"While My Guitar Gently Weeps" Martin Luther (McCoy) Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it. |

Serious said: You beat me to it Martina! Yes I love Sananda's cover of "You've Got To Hide Your Love Away." I would love to hear him cover "Oh Darling," I listened to Marvin Gaye do "Yesterday" and dug that too! Here's another Beatle's cover by Sananda, it's him doing "If I Fell" What a voice!

Almost forgot....
Here's another clip of Sananda doing a kick-ass cover of The Beatles' "What You're Doing."

what about "got to get you into my life" by earth, wind & fire?
while generally i don't like covers because they tend to be superfluous (mary j, i'm looking at you, "sweet thing"), i think they made this song their own. i also like aretha's kind of off the wall version of "eleanor rigby". it was the first version i ever heard. after hearing her, the beatles sound downright tame, though i like their version, too. but my all time favorite was mentioned - stevie's cover of "we can work it out". like ewf, he made it his own.

I did a thread about it couple of months ago I think their version surpasses the original(which is SO stiff in comparison).

Nope. IMO, what makes the original sound so good is that it does not sound like the Beatles. It sounds more like a Paul solo project.EW&F version sounds like a poor attempt to cash in on both groups. Obviously Stevie's cover is the best but also McLemore Avenue by Booker T & The Mg's was a good album. Basically a re-working of Abbey Road complete with a cover featuring the band crossing the road outside Stax Studios!

I'm a little bit shocked Richie Havens didn't show up on here. He's done quite a few (I think), but his "Here Comes the Sun" is pretty amazing and one of the best Beatles covers out there. Also, Sdldawn said nobody beats the Beatles doing their songs. I strongly disagree (but also not a Beatlesfile). I find that there are a lot of covers out there that make their original versions seems really flat musically yet it they often showcases their great lyrics.
