Stevie Wonder set to receive the Gershwin Award

From Dr Funkenberry: www.drfunkenberry.com

The man, the myth, the legend, Stevie Wonder will have another award for his mantle, or wherever he keeps his awards.

Stevie’s latest award is the Gershwin Award Prize from the Library of Congress.

Stevie will get the award Feb. 23rd at the library’s Great Hall with an All-Star Concert planned for the following night. (The Dr. has learned no performers have been announced yet but the concert will be open to the public.) Stevie will write a song for the concert.

James H. Billington had this to say: The Gershwin Prize was created to honor an artist whose creative output transcends distinctions between musical styles and idioms, bringing diverse listeners together, and fostering mutual understanding and appreciation, Stevie Wonder’s music epitomizes this ideal.”

Stevie responded by saying “He is touched to receive this award.” Stevie recieved an award from the Library 3 years ago for “Songs In The Key Of Life”. This is the 2nd Gershwin Award given as the first was given to Paul Simon last year.

Thank you Stevie for the music. You deserve this award.-Dr.FB

That's great news. Stevie deserves all the awards he can get cause he deserves them. One of the few REAL geniuses on the planet today. Congrats Stevie clapping
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that
