Forgotten Jam of the Day: "Rebels Are We" by Chic When people think of Chic, they usually think that the group died out after the disco era ended in 1979. However, this group busted into the 1980s with another hard jam called "Rebels Are We".
Anybody into this one? Andy is a four letter word.

It wasn't the normal place I usually go way out in the country. It was the Gateway Rescue Mission Thrift Store which only has a small selection of vinyl which people have donated. Hell, a lot of their stuff didn't even have album covers. What the hell though, they only costed 50 cents each. I came back with The Salsoul Orchestra's "Christmas Jollies" album, The Doobie Brothers "Real Love", and the Patrick Hernandez "Born To Be Alive" 12 Inch. . . . There is one song on there that I used to hear on the radio every year. It's called "Christmas Time Is Here" and has vocals by a female..... Christmas time is here It's a jolly good time of the year Sleigh bells in the snow ? everywhere you go Jolly....happy....jolly time of the year A lot of the tracks are traditional Christmas classics but they have a disco sound to them. On side two there is a Christmas medley that is very disco-ish and also a disco-ish sounding New Year's medley featuring "Old Anx (However you spell it)". I think you would like it. Anybody into this one? I love that album...my brother still has it. "Chip off the Old Block" is my favorite off the album...then "Rebels". Both are on my ipod as we speak.

Chic's music is EXACTLY like wine,,,,the further years pass by, the more THINGs people find in their music.
Their music got SO much substance to be labeled as just "another disco group". [Edited 9/4/08 16:10pm]

I'm surprised no one has sampled the breakdown from this. (Yes, it's good that they haven't ruined it by making it ca-ca hop.) "The first time I saw the cover of Dirty Mind in the early 80s I thought, 'Is this some drag queen ripping on Freddie Prinze?'" - Some guy on The Gear Page
