When is this from?

There is no discussion to be had. Whitney lost her voice years ago and it ain't coming back. Like MJ, she can give hints of the old magic here and there, but nothing more than that. She's actually in better shape than MJ. She can at least sing the whole song live.

What can you expect from midnightmover. She/he´s a passionate hater who won´t miss an opportunity to diss him.

I can only say that I'm therefore happy that my life isn't so empty that I constantly have to put down other people's favourite artists. smile

Whoa. I'd have to say no but she hasn't been 'the voice' for years. And if that's after her vocal work to get back on track than that's really sad. BTW, that stage is huge.

I can't help but link MJ and Whitney. Both of them have lost their voices badly at relatively young ages. I had full length videos of two History '97 gigs and I taped over both of them because it was so dispiriting to see and hear how badly MJ had lost it. None of that live footage is on Youtube so obviously even the fans must be able to hear how bad it was. I take no pleasure in that. Believe me, I'd love it if he could still deliver live, but I have a pair of ears and they don't lie. Sorry. Even if you look at the famous Bucharest '92 concert, his vocals are patchy and he's miming half the show. How can anyone argue with that? Still love the old MJ though.

Whitney, I don't really miss to tell you the truth. I always saw her as fake. She was the prototype for the affected singers that followed like Christina Aguilera, Alicia Keys, etc. These people are all looking in the mirror when they sing. They are luxuriating in their own smugness.

Just check out his/her recent posts on the other thread over here. They´re so full of hate that it is hard for me to imagine that that person might have any positive feelings toward anything connected to MJ.

Whitney was (or is???) technically fantastic.... But honestley, I'm not a fan because she got no artistic integrity. She's not in charge of her careeer as Madonna would say. I imagine it's one of her managers to come and say: Whitney, THIS producer is hip, you HAVE to do that and they wrote 12 new songs for you."

she has no input wahsoever in her music and what was her last great song? "Your Love Is My Love"???

What the hell? whofarted

She is singing just about every other note FLAT, playing "cute" like it don't really matter.

Far cry from the "I Will Always.." performances I used to hear 1992-1994.

I think you meant Mariah Carey or Celine Dion. There's no way Alicia could be in love with her voice whereas Mariah fits the bill (im)perfectly.

You know that's not true. I love plenty of artists and I am always bigging them up. Right now I have this appreciation thread on one of them. http://prince.org/msg/8/279626

lol Those are two of the others I was thinking of, but believe me, Alicia is WORSE than both of them when it comes to fakeness.

She might be fake (I don't know) but I don't envision her standing in front of the mirror singing like Mariah. Alicia's voice isn't versatile enough for her to be practicing all of those histrionics Mariah, Whitney, Christina and Celine do. Besides she has to play up her piano playing abilities and that would eat into her mirror time. smile

Singing a few lines quietly acappella is not a real test. It's singing whole songs over a full band that provides the test. I heard Britney singing a few lines of Madonna's "Like A Prayer" in an interview and it sounded okay. Heard her singing live with a band and she just couldn't hack it, which is why she lip synches mostly. Same goes for MJ. Don't take my word for it. Check out the History '97 concerts. That's the real test. Check out the decline over the course of the Bad Tour. Same thing happened on the Dangerous Tour. It's stamina that Mike lacks. The more he sings the worse his voice gets. All you have to do is compare shows on his tours and you'll see that. And you know as well as I do that Michael doesn't just mime when he's dancing. He mimes ballads. What's your explanation for that?

i simply dont have an explanation for that , i do find that he sounds better with his brothers in 2001. i dont get it why he trys to sing wanne be starting something, and mimes on ballads. i still believe he can sing , but he must leave the intence dance routines behind.

This is terrible!!
I never was a big fan of her,2 smooth...but I liked
I'm your baby tonight and a few other songs.
I guess it's not an easy song 2 sing live,a lot of others
would also fail but even on an Idols show they would do better!!

And what's up with the MJ bashing lately??On alsmost every thread!
I know since the History tour the man doesn't always
sing live & we all know he's ruined his own career
but do we really have 2 keep on repeating it? lol

yeah it sounds like the albu version but mainly because the first minutes of the songs are not hard to sing.
