Ive been to a million shows, 73 just Prince, and im more into seeing the artist i paid for, i understand the opening act theory and all that, what i dislike alot of times is getting tricked into an artist, meaning not billing an opener, and finding out when you get there that the artist you wanna see is not going on till 9:30 especially at GA shows, Duran Duran did this one year on their unplugged tour where they had 3 openers and then did a 60 minute acoustic set, which is not in character for Duran, but just saying keeping things like that a secret sucks. Co-headliners is a different thing because your getting the show they would do normally, just getting a more seasoned bill. Hall and Oates and Chicago went out together and did 2+ hours each then did some stuff together, other bands like Journey do the same, usually with Reo or Styx. So there is a difference. Im not knocking Janets choice because LL is old school, and she culd have really had someone shitty like akon open just to get asses in seats. And i can guarantee that almost everyone praising Janets opening choice are gonna be bitching come the day after the shows. i paid to see Me'shell at her first show in support of Comfort Woman, the cd wasn't out yet, she played all new songs. When I saw Busta Rhymes open for Mariah Carey, I thought "perfect! they can do Give It To Me"... their existing duet song but their performances never overlapped.
I can't imagine LL wrapping his set and then coming back later during Janet's to duet on a song that they have yet to record. | |

I think LL may still have it altho his last album was not so great. Baby is one of those easy basic songs for the ladies. Don't care for it not because of his rhyming, but because I don't care much for the track. I think there will be better stuff on Exit 13 but overall he's a legend and when he starts doing those older cuts, he'll definitely have the crowd's attention.
