If music ain't appropriate for either the club or the bedroom, there's no purpose for it to be made in the first place other than for folks to sit around bobbing their heads to some dull shit and rave about the lyrics in a song.

Hell yeah. Ain't no shame, hell, Hammer could jam and his shit wasn't slow enough to throw on the turntable and mix with a slow ass opera record. lol

So you're more into the "music" than the content/lyrics. Then you should ONLY listen to instrumentals lol. For me, - in terms of hip hop - I have to be satisfied lyrically/content-wise/music-wise. If it bangs at the club, then so be it, but that's for the club hoes. But if it's "about" something and it bumps, then it's certainly all good. Why rap if they don't have shit to say nor how to say it? shrug

I don't care for hip hop much, but I like Kanye West, Timbaland, Nas, 2pac, Biggie, and Jay Z, LL Cool J is okay too.

I used to love hip hop/rap in the 90's but more for the songs than the artists

I could care less about lyrics. It ain't lyrics that shake the ass. That's what music is for anyway. As for rap, it's best days were when the lyrics were "party over here", "party over there", "rock rock to the planet rock, don't stop". They not only were jamming with the music but their lyrics were talking about how hard they could jam which is a much more interesting subject than the bullshit that's been in the lyrics of the last 15 years. As for hearing a story in the lyrics, I'll turn on "As The World Turns" if I want a story. And as for a rapper being "poetic", hell, I grew up only liking cool shit. The cool folks were out partying and shaking ass and the dorks and geeks were the ones at home reading poetry. lol
