They're both pretty horrible records, and I've downloaded them both. lol

I like "For The Record" and "Touch My Body" of the new one tough.

she sings too much in her middle lower register which gives that nasally vocals sounds kinda like her mouth is closed and she's mumbling...yeah song does build but it takes ages to do that

she sounds like a really young person when singing like that, I almost forgot she's almost 40

Well structured and manufactured b.s. that some 16 year old r&b artist could have put out with a protools producer. There were no real slow jams like Circles and I Wish You Knew with real instruments and a real musicians talent to produce such work. And even though classics like "Bliss" and "Joyride" were made with protools they captured great songwriting and didnt sound like hand-me-downs.

ur so full of contradictions i dont even know why u are arguing with me? arent u a mariah fan?

well strucutered in terms of arrangment, song structure/lyrics, voice intonation, layering, beat implementation - all parts which go to make up a song - are you mental? i stay in love is a bonafide classic guaranteed it will appear on a compilations 5-10 years from now - honestly i dont see any other artist bringing that edge to this song and b.cox is a beast - their partnership is what gives the song its structure.

slow jams? love story and for the record - sure they are not are great as her other material but still they serve their purpose.

Yes but I am also a musician who is learning, and thus..alot of the slow jams on this album are stuck in a modern r&b loop that has been used and used and used over and over again. When Mimi came out 95% of all the slow jams on it had instrumentation and classic trained vocal teqniques that recalled "Subtle Invitation", "Lead The Way", "Underneath The Stars", "4th Of July" and other classy Mariah jams. This time she didnt really use her voice and just tuned out.

Don't get mad at me because I appreciate fine cusine of music and you settle for TV Dinner r&b. I was upset that she didnt mature and went back to the way she was when Rainbow came out. Im not criticizing you, however you criticized me and like Alexander O Neal said...."dont just close your mind.." music

I don't know how it went from "That Chick" being the album title, to not being a single, because I think that's the one song people agree on.

just a couple of weeks ago it was annouced as the 4th single, and it went for adds last week. and right now there's a rumor that they're scarpping it and going for Migrate.

that's the formula she uses hence the album name - can you not put 2 and 2 together? she didnt really use her voice? so whats those noises that came out of her mouth? For the record is very much like the early Mariah and lead the way is not very large stretch from i stay in love or incorporating the same breathing techniques and familiarities from not only her past albums but the preceding one and are you missing Bye Bye (what song does that sound like?) – either you didnt listen to the album and understand the connection and what the artist verbally said about the album or you just came to the conclusion automatically jaded on no real basis. The fusion of styles is what is tripping people – but don’t forget that it still very much the same artist- people are just getting alarmist again hoping for a Charmbracelet pt.2 and hyping it up as a bad record but really it’s where she’s at in her life, she married and having fun with life - guaranteed you won't be saying the same things you're saying now when she releases another album in a year or so which will blow everything out of the water. And finally, don't act like you know me – you make a thread inviting criticism so expect to get the same treatment - my musical palette is far-reaching than you think ranging from progressive house, classical all the way down to japanese gabba.

Im am just floored at how much people like the slow songs on E=MC2. And in another area...lets say this is supposed to be the 'flip side' of Mimi.....there isnt really anything even close to Mimi on this album other than the first song being like "Its Like That" and Touch My Body being a slight recreation to "We Belong Together" and "Shake It Off". There are simply too many tracks that have the same JD sound effect in it (hi hats with a light snare on a 808 in almost every song). And I do like the lyrics of some of the songs like I Wish you Well, Bye Bye and Side Effects. I just feel like this is a place she has already been before and I was looking for a more mature record again.

oh and yes..she did NOT sing the way she did on the last album....she really just kind of mellowed out. I love when Mariah belts out because that IS her....she pretty much saved it all in I Wish you Well. I wish there were more timeless moments like that. Where 10 years from now those JD tracks are going to sound dated tired and stale.

As much as I can see why everyone likes I'm That Chick cause of the old school feel and mj sample, her voice was terrible on it. Those nasally oy oy's at the beginning, ugh!

Something with strong vocals like Love Story, Side Effects or For the Record are more worthy of releasing.

Was "Side Effects" a single or considered?

Turns out that is my favorite.

I like Young Jeezy's intro the most and it is missing from this remix! In 2008, I'm a little tired of Busta. zzz

Edited simply because it was Jeezy. "Touch My Body" was a hit!

I tried to listen to it after so long and the only songs I could listen to were Touch My Body (not too crazy about it though) and OOC, For the Record (one of her best) and Bye Bye, as well as some of last kiss. I kept pressing the skip button

Don't get me wrong, there are songs that get skipped PERMANENTLY

but then other songs, like "That Chick", I start singing in the morning while I'm getting ready. lol

I don't like I'm That Chick much though I know it has an old school flavour and a catchy melody. The nasly oy oy's at the beginning and her singing about ice cream is cheesy.

sometimes I do, and sometimes I want to smack her for it

I like her fast songs, but I prefer her ballads with strong vocals. I love her first 2 albums, daydream, butterfly and mimi best. The others are nice but have just a few good songs here and there.
