Thicke's bike messenger video: WTF?

Was that strung-out bike messenger look actually what he was rocking in those days, or was he like the straight man's version of Madonna, just playing dress up?

In any case, he was smart to shave 'n' cut.

That's how I became a fan of his. Then I saw him do "The Stupid Things" on Live in Hollywood and I went hunting for "A Beautiful World"

That's why we didn't hear from him until "Lost Without U". Labels can be very shitty.

Actually, this is the version of Thicke (or Robin Thicke) that I like -- long-haired hippie artist.

I was not impressed by the clean-cut, sharp-dressed "reinvention" a few years ago. That seemed fake; or, if that was the real him, made me think the hippie era was fake.

His looks, apart from the great song, is what caught my attention beacuse he looked so different and ordinary compaired to the other fellas in that genre.

He used to look like Ted Neely from Jesus Christ Superstar!

I actually think that cutting his hair was as much a marketing move as it was a fashion statement. He looked 'rock'... but didn't sound rock. And even though he sounded soulful... looking 'rock' just wouldn't when him many fans in the soul/R&B community. so the clean cut look was a happy medium I suppose.

His only good song, too.

I loved the hair! I remember back in '03 going to a bunch of his shows and then at one show his hair was short and we were like WTF??? I asked him why he cut it and he said it was time to grow up or something like that. He used to use his hair to hide and he didn't want to hide anymore. He had been wearing it long for years. He also had just gotten engaged, so they may have been something to with it too

There will never be another album like A Beautiful World

I'm not too well-versed on Thicke, but I do miss that long hair. Short, kempt hair is beyond unappealing IMO. Never trust a guy who's ears you can see.

Short-hair types. Squares. They're not to be trusted. I know it sounds like some lame 1960's anti-establishment cliche, but that's honestly been my experience so far.
