GEORGE MICHAEL REVIEW! Well worth the price of admission!
8-3-08, Bank Atlantic Center. This was the last show of the US tour and the show started an hour late, for which he apologized, when he finally appeared onstage to the sounds of deafening screams. He was quite engaging and interactive with the audience and sang very well despite having a cold. He even did some energetic dance moves that got a big response from the ladies. The stage setup was visually stunning with his excellent, 9 piece band playing behind him on 2 tri-level stages situated between 3 state of the art video screens. The sound was pretty good for an arena and the crowd stayed on their feet most of the time dancing and singing along. Surprisingly, I managed to get a few halfway decent pictures... I don't recall the setlist in order but here's what I remember... Faith Everything She Wants Father Figure One More Try (Very soulful, gospel style, Gawd! I love this song!) How I Feel? or Feeling Good? (Done in a very smooth, enjoyable, jazzy style. I don't recall ever hearing this song.) I'm Your Man Spinning The Wheel Outside (Wearing the cop uniform and shades. ) Burn Rubber (Yep, I mean the Gap Band song, ) Encore 1, Careless Whisper (My favorite, I nearly DIED! Yes, it was beautiful and I cried... ) Encore 2, Freedom 90... I would have loved to hear Jesus To A Child and his cover of Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me, but overall the show was great. This was my first time seeing George Michael and he says this is his last tour...I hope he changes his mind. Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

Yeah, that "8:00 Prompt" on the tickets is a joke. He started at 8:40 here in the Twin Cities. Still a great show...glad you enjoyed it as well. And I'm sure some of those responses weren't just from the ladies.

Nice review.
From the looks of one of the pictures, he performed "Fastlove" too.

Love your pictures!
He was scheduled for 8PM and came out around 8:45 but goodness we were so happy to see him we barely noticed. When he walked out singing "Here I am" I've never heard such screaming and stomping. I checked with a friend to see if she wanted to go and she said no. A few days later she saw some GM Story or Behind the Music type show and deeply regretted not saying yes. She totally missed out. [Edited 8/4/08 15:27pm] Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

[Edited 8/4/08 15:27pm] Thanks. The people across the aisle from me passed the time by batting a giant balloon around. It was 5ft long, pink and shaped like a male organ, so that was the entertainment while I waited. I'm so glad I went...might not get another chance. He was fantastic when I saw him last year. Saw him and Prince within the space of two months; not bad for someone who was only twenty at the time and never thought I'd get to see either!
Only problem is, I need a new album from George now.

Couldn't we have a sticky thread about the GM concerts. Everytime an orger goes 2 see him we have a thread made!
I can't enjoy the multiple MJ and Madonna threads with all the GM thread poppin' like mushrooms!

Only problem is, I need a new album from George now. "Listen" is my favorite. But make sure you've got his Wham! albums as well. He wrote, produced and sang the songs all by himself, so it's as much George Michael as the solo stuff.

Hi
George did his last two shows in London last night and Sunday night. I went on Sunday night. Stage set up was the same. He did a really good show, though he also came on stage late at 8.40 p.m. Finished at 11.10 p.m. Songs I can remember which he did were (in no particular order): Different Corner Freedom 90 You're Beautiful Spin The Wheel Amazing (which he wrote for and dedicated to Kenny) Faith Father Figure Too Funky Style People Everything She Wants I'm Your Man One More Try Careless Whisper [Edited 8/26/08 2:31am]
