Its a combination of many things, but one thing no one is mentioning is AGE. The pop world now is YOUNG, thats it plain and simple, scan the charts and whats getting played 24/7, the average artist age that gets PLAY is under 24. Janet doesnt fit into that

I liked the Discipline cd. It was a HUGE improvement from 20YO (and I am a Janet fan). I think that it was a little dance/house oriented for a hip hop tinged music era. Her singles did very well on the Dance charts. At this stage of Janet's career, I think she should take the chances that Madonna (love her too-no need for another tired Janet vs Madonna thread) had, and use unknown producers and come back with a fresh sound. Also, Janet needs to fire Gil as her choreographer IMMEDIATELY and patch things up with Tina Landon and Shawnette Heard. Although Janet has hit her peak musicwise in the 90's (all artist have their peak), she looks fantastic and I believe she can still deliver something as fresh and introspective that she hadn't done since Velvet Rope. VR wasn't one of her best selling efforts, but most respected.
