My 90s jam of the day...TLC's Baby, Baby, Baby (Remix) This was my jam in 92/93. I thought I would share it with you today. I heard it on the TJMS this morning and it brought back a memory. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

I remember this. It was cool.
The Deele's title song and album Eyes of a Stranger was the pre cum for much of the TLC sound in the early nineties. [Edited 8/20/08 18:28pm] Don't laugh at my funk

Never cared for that group. I must admit though, the girl's voice on that particular song sounds to me like Brenda from Vanity 6. Andy is a four letter word. | |

TLC's debut was hip-hop/r&b, whereas Eyes of a Stranger was straight r&b. So l.a and babyface didn't produce any songs for TLC? Hint 1 : TLC were on their record label Hint 2 : L.A's ex wife Pebbles were their manager I know they were of different genres but look at TLC's successful ballads like baby, baby, baby and red light special and some of a few other TLC songs that were of the L.A and babyface sound. And it is not just TLC. You can throw After 7 in there as well. Don't laugh at my funk

And it is not just TLC. You can throw After 7 in there as well. I know all of that info, but I wouldn't put The Deele's work in with TLC. The sound was totally different. When LA and Face were doing the Deele's stuff, it was a pre-cursor for the stuff they did with Bobby Brown, Pebbles, Johnnie Gill, etc. I like to refer to it as the 80s LaFace. Whey LA and Face decided to start a label (LaFace), the music had a little more edge to it. It didn't sound like The Deele's work at all on Eyes of a Stranger. Now, if you had compared the TLC project to Jermaine Jackson's You Said album, Damian Dame, etc., I would get the connection. I say that because all of the early LaFace projects were pretty collaborative (except Toni Braxton's debut...which was more of a Face effort). **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-
