So somebody please tell me - what is this thing that R&B/hip-hop artists have for talking about "gettin' their mack on" or "steppin' their game up"? It reminds me of a certain doo-wop group in the 50s, talking about "when I look out across my duke-dom" (from Duke Of Earl, and that's not a word). I don't think it's cute, but I don't know everything. So tell me, people, what's the reason for it?
