now about that new BECK album...

is it any good?
I saw it on vinyl as well
when I picked up In Rainbows
but I left it there

as I know little about the group
but I did see that this particular
album was co-produced by Danger Mouse
(which is all the reason
to pick it up anyway)

I just wanted some opinions
before I did so smile

I think it's kind of boring, honestly. It's one of the albums where I appreciate the intent and the creativity, but it just ended up lacking what I like most about the artist.

it's good. it's middle-of-the-road beck, but if you're not familiar with his work, it might be a good place for you to start. there's nothing really difficult to wrap your mind around here, no big experimental departures or thematic indulgence. it's just a beck album with some decent pop tunes on it. i don't hate it but i don't listen to it very much either. like i said, it could be a good intro to his music - plus it's a short album, so it won't wear out its welcome if you find yourself warming up to it.

thanx you guys...

I think I'ma pick it up
on the strength of Anxiety's comments
and the fact that Danger Mouse is involved

plus it's the vinyl razz
I believe it's a lil under
$10 bucks @ HOT TOPIC

I like some of Beck's earlier stuff
but haven't spun a "full album" just yet
so this is good

i don't know much about cat power. what little i've heard of her music hasn't really struck much of a chord with me. i don't mind her voice on the new beck album, though. it took me a few listens to actually locate the backing vox on the song she's on, and apparently i forgot which one was was the correct track anyway. lol

i've had this sitting around on my hard drive for awhile now (and a couple of Cat Power albums as well, actually). up until i downloaded it to try it out, i was really looking forward to it. i forgot to listen to it, then completely forgot about its existence. thanks for the reminder. but it's pretty typical of my feelings about beck. i think i do or should like him, but i never remember (or remember why) when it comes down to it.

I love Cat Power, she outdid Bob Dylan on the 'I'm Not There'-soundtrack with her version of 'Stuck Inside of Mobile with the Memphis Blues Again'!

Modern Guilt has been on my iPhone eversince it was released, I tried to listen to it a couple of times but it never inspired me to make an effort to sit through the entire album.....
