Jam Of The Day - "On The Upside" - Xena Surely a Shannon ripoff or throwaway, but still a good song!!

That's Lisa Fischer singing, and I love this song.
I can't say for sure, but I bet it's the same producers of Shannon's Let the Music Play - Chris Barbosa and Mark Liggett. I know Shannon was on Emergency Records and looking at that video, Xena was too, so I'm sure it's more than just a ripoff. I always liked their production, but even into the late 80s and early 90s, it all sounds very similar. See their work with Safire and George Lamond. Same sound. spelling edit [Edited 7/9/08 6:41am]

Not that they're the be all/end all resource, but I've seen it many times before: Fischer also provided stirring vocals on the power ballad "Colors of Love" which was featured on the soundtrack album for the film Made in America. She also released a single, "On the Upside", under the stage name of Xēna, in 1983. In 1984, a club track she recorded entitled "Only Love (Shadows)" was briefly featured in the motion picture Beat Street and was later released in 1995 as part of the Hot Productions' "The Best Of Criminal Records" compilation.
