Robert Smith has been busy... I was doing a little research on my favorite band The Cure.
Robert Smith has been a busy little kittie and some very exciting developments are underway. *The band have agreed to 3 European shows this fall where they will play their favorite trilogy of albums in their entirety: Pornography, Disintegration and Bloodflowers. They will be filming these shows for an upcoming dvd. *Following these shows, the band plan on going into the studio from October to January to complete their next album. Currently they are an unsigned band and they plan on releasing upcoming projects through their own label and distribute them through a US indie label. The current release date is sometime in Spring 2003. *As part of finishing out their current contract with Elektra, they will be releasing a b-sides box set of some sort and they'd like to do a few one-off shows where they play songs they've never played before. Robert hinted that the b-sides is a good place to start. *Apparently Robert's own solo album that he's been working on for years is to be included with one of these upcoming releases. He doesn't want to do solo promotion or charge anything extra for it so he's including it free with one of these projects in the near future. Sounds like an incredible time to be a Cure fan. Thank god he didn't break up the band after Bloodflowers cuz they're definitely hitting their stride again. I can't wait for all these goodies!

Fantastic I definitely like the Cure and Robert Smith is very Cool. They are Excellent in concert. You know Rolling Stone once suggested that Prince should Collaberate with him on some songs. Maybe I am thinking yes did Prince lay down some tunes with him in the past and should he release them now? Or should they collaberate on some new stuff. Interesting and yes Robert and the cure are kinda Old skool ,Gothic in a way.

Damn I thought this was about former Minnesota Viking Robert Smith who retired out of the blue last year. I was curious as to what he's been up to.

OMG !! YES !!!
First of all... LMAO @ "busy little kittie" Second of all... Robert !!! I love them soo much, I would kill to be at any one of those shows in Europe. AND YES !! If the Cure is kind enough to grace us with their presence...There will definately be a reunion...possibly several...depending on what cities they choose. I would give my left tit to see them live again. LOL I haven't seen them since the summer of 1987 for the Kiss Me tour. I was a dumbass, and didnt go for either the Disintegration or WISH tours. I am soo excited about this !!! vi

It's just one of those bands I grew up listening to. Lots of nostalgic moments. Writing all the lyrics on my book covers in junior high. And I find them to be musically genious. They really haven't lost anything over the years. |

Dude the thing about the Cure is that people just don't like them. Either they've never heard of them or listened to any of their stuff...or they're completely out of their minds obsessed. They're the definition of cult status. Once you dig in, you won't be able to stop. I can guarantee it.
And Violett. I became a fan around '87 as well but missed all the shows up until the Dream Tour of 2000. It was one of the best shows I've ever seen and Carrie's right- they haven't lost a thing with time. It was a killer set. Here's what they played: Out of This World/Watching Me Fall/Want/Fascination St./Last Day of Summer/Pictures of You/Where the Birds Always Sing/Shake Dog Shake/Maybe Someday/The Snake Pit/From the Edge of the Deep Green Sea/Inbetween Days/If Only Tonight We Could Sleep/Prayers For Rain/One Hundred Years/39/Bloodflowers 1st encore: There Is No If/Trust/Plainsong/Disintegration 2nd encore: Torture/The Figurehead/Pornography 3rd encore: Boys Don't Cry/10:15 Saturday Night/Killing an Arab I sang and danced my ass of that night. They definitely came through with what all Cure fans wanted to see instead of a "hits" based show. It sounds like Robert's sick of playing the old standbys and only wants to do his and his fans' favorites. Right on! They changed their setlist every night. Ian and I planned on seeing them in Toronto 2 days later but we couldn't get tickets. Some of the stuff they played there that they didn't at our show were: Open/Sinking/End/All Cats Are Grey/Faith/Lovesong/Play For Today/Just Like Heaven/A Forest/Fire In Cairo/Push sounds great huh? I hope they come here soon! [This message was edited Thu Sep 12 18:23:32 PDT 2002 by TRON]

Did you catch The Cure on MAD TV, the show on TV a few months ago it was!!!
Totally shocked me that they would play on there, very cool. They looked great and still are cool and dark. I've never delved deeper into their catolog. I've heard alot of songs way back in the 80's via some goth friend. I count the Cure as one of my all time favorites.

If you want to keep track of The Cure with more frequent updates than their official site, I recommend checking out the website A Chain Of Flowers. That's where I got most of the information for this thread. The only news that seems definite is that there are 2 dvd's coming out. One of a concert from 'The Top' tour and another of their recent 'Trilogy' shows in Germany where they played 'Pornography', 'Disintegration' and 'Bloodflowers' in their entirety. Should be great! Here's a link.
