She has nothing to do with her career, she has NO publishing,so everytime her songs get played she makes ZERO dollars. I dont care what she sells worldwide, it dont mean shit if you dont write or have some form of input, why do you think Beyonce puts her name on everything! Others are getting rich of this girl, its no different than Toni Braxton, Tlc or any other hit making machine of the day that has no input in their career.

And her tours net her shit, when you take out the sponsors the road crews, the people that tag along that having to do with anything, you are left with nothing but the rented clothes on your back.

My advice to Rihanna, get yourself a clothing line. get yourself perfume deals. Music nets nothing, at least for Produced artists like yourself. Dint everyone think it was strange that of the 20 top money makers of females in music, Rihanna was nowhere to be found?

She already has a shitload of merchandising deals.

Yeah but who's keeping the books, thats the deal. If you got joe shmo doing it you're screwed. But if you're someone like Hilary Duff orjessica Simpson where you have family doing it, or even youre doing it than thats keeping it to yourself. You can sign a million deals and still lose it all if your bookeeper is keeping it all.

Real or not, im sure down the line we are going to hear she got ripped off. And its her own fault because she has involvement in what she does. Though the article may be false, the FACT is she was nowhere to be found in the top 20 money makers of female singers, and this took into account endorsements. So for all her hits, Jessica Simpson brought in 10 times as much as her, and Madonna, who Rihanna Idolizes knocked all the women out of the box. Rihanna needs to not just preach about "being the black Madonna" she needs to THINK like Madonna, big difference, you can copy her style, which many have, but alot more goes into being Madonna than just saying it, Madonna controlled it all at a very early stage.

I buy what Williams says. But I agree it's terribly unprofessional to be airing detail about a former client like this. If Rihanna publicly, knowingly and wrongly accuses her of "stealing," I say sue her. But Williams shouldn't ruin her own rep by running her mouth.
[Edited 8/17/08 23:22pm]

Well, you have to look at it 2 ways:

1 - If she stayed quiet and fought it, win or lose, her accounting rep would be ruined and she'd be hard-pressed to get another MAJOR accounting gig.

2 - She speaks out in GREAT DETAIL explaining what happened so at least her accounting rep stays in place, and to her, I'm sure THAT'S much more imporatnt than looking like someone who spilled the beans on her client.

In her eyes, her name as an accountant is worth more than keeping quiet and having it "suspect" to hamper her from getting other gigs.

That was a good article. I had never read that one before. Thanks for posting it.
I've been LMAO at this whole thread because from the beginning I thought it was as fake as the Ciara article posted a few days ago. (LOL @ Cinnie for tying them together)
Come on people. Don't believe everything you read.
I'm not saying she couldn't be low on cash (see TLC) but I'm just saying that you have to examine the source of the info first.
Even if she were down to 20k, all she would have to do is do a mini tour and throw a label mate like Ne-Yo or the Dream or someone like Karina that canj't afford to ask for much money and would be glad not to be sitting home watching her video on BET and she'd be good in a month. Do a few cities where they will pay to see her regardless of circumstances (Seattle, NY, San Fran. Vancouver B.C., etc.) and boom - in a couple of weeks her money problems would be on hold until she burnt through what she made.
Even when celebs are broke, they're not usually "broke" unless someone has done something very foul, they have a bad drug habit or they owe the IRS.

"I'm a professional Business Manager, I have a staff of more than a dozen, I have worked for many high profile actors, musicians and multi-million dollar corporations. Why would I steal from Rihanna?" She continues, "I showed her all the paperwork and tried to explain to her the circumstances but she wouldn't listen. She called me all sorts of horrible names and stormed off. I now feel compelled to share with the world the background story as I will not allow my name to be slandered"

The Barbados born singer has had four back-to-back albums, including a re-release since her debut of "Pon De Replay" in 2005.

According to Willliams, Marc Jordan, manager and owner of Rebel One Management has been taking care of Rihanna's financial situation with her. "Def Jam doesn't fund Rihanna properly, so Marc uses the money Rihanna makes from third-party endorsements and from tours to fund her album and music videos." Since 2005, Rihanna has been sponsored by the likes of JC Penny, Samsung, Covergirl, Secret, Venus Breeze etc,. and has gone on two major tours, most recently label-mate Kanye West's "Glow in the Dark" Tour and with PussyCat Dolls across Europe.

"I don't want to disrespect Marc's name. He is a fantastic manager and genuinely believes in Rihanna. But he uses her money to fund her future projects because he believes he can break her in the world-market. Her album sales are not nearly as close to her single sales and he knows that if she is only known as a 'singles artist' she will only be as good as her last hit. Unfortunately, he didn't inform his client and I'm receiving the brunt of it.

"Why is Def Jam lacking in funding support for there act? Why was so much money spent? How much exactly? Williams continues,

"Her record label Def Jam has put out 3 albums in a time span of 2 years. Alot of that was orchestrated through her management Rebel One. It was never Def Jam's intention to release so many albums back-to-back but Marc Jordan found loop holes and ways to make it happen.A lot of the money Rihanna made through her endorsements between CoverGirl Cosmetics, Samsung.. Notice that majority of Rihanna's videos have a cell phone in it?"

"After the release of Rihanna and Teairra Mari, Def Jam had intention to drop both acts because their album sales were not successful. Her manager fought to get [S.O.S (Rescue Me)] and quickly tried to negotiate with as many companies as possible. Nike picked up the song and funded a video. This brought the hype back for Rihanna in the company's New York office. Majority of the official 'S.O.S' video was funded by Samsung because the record label was only willing to put up a small amount. Once 'S.O.S' picked up digitally and at radio, Def Jam agreed to fund the rest of her album. Jordan instantly got a video shot to 'Unfaithful' (he negotiated with video director Anthony Mandler to drop his price and would be given more videos from Rihanna in return). Then they shot 'We Ride' which was an extremely cheap video to create. 'Break It Off' was released as a third album, but again, Def Jam was unhappy with the sales of her album "A Girl Like Me" and refused to shoot a video. At this point Rihanna was opening up for the PussyCat Doll's in Europe. She was making 30,000 a show but she didn't see any of that money because it was needed to fund her next album." Which is now known to the greater public as a 'Good Girl Gone Bad'."

The song "Umbrella" was found & Jordan fought again for Rihanna to have it. They shot the video, which CoverGirl funded half of, and the song became a success. When the record label had there meeting with Music Stores across the U.S to order her album for shipment, the number's weren't coming in the way that they expected. When the album's first week numbers came in at less than 150,000, the label was shocked. Def Jam's President LA Reid was livid! Umbrella was #1 for 11 weeks! Any other artist would have sold way more first week. T-Pain even did better in sales than her that week. Def Jam told Jordan they were no longer funding the album, so Jordan needed money again to pay for music videos 'Shut Up & Drive' and 'Dont Stop The Music'. Almost 250,000 was spent to have those videos created. Plus, an additional 120,000 to shoot 'Hate That I Love You'. Jordan was noticing that 'Dont Stop The Music' was picking up, so her persuaded the label to support it at radio in the U.S and the remaining singles, and they did."

"Then came for the repackaging of her album 'Good Girl Gone Bad', which is called 'Good Girl Gone Bad: Reloaded', that entire project was funded through Rihanna's money. 'Take A Bow' was bought through her money, the video was created with her money and so is her most recent video and single 'Disturbia'. The label didn't even want to pay a dime for anything! Close to 750,000 was spent on those two songs alone. And now she expects to see money in her account?"

Williams states that Jordan, her publicist from well-respected public relations firm 42-West, Alicia Silverman has built alot of hype around Rihanna's name but the singer has only made "a little bit above a million" and "all of it was spent on making her as big as she is now. It's not my fault that she only has 20,000 to her name."

Glad it's fake. It broke all sorts of AP style and punctuation rules...

Its not even about it being fake or real, I mean come on, the net is full of about 5% truth, so its not about that. Its more the idea of Rihanna not having a clue about $$ and where it goes, once again the FACT is she was not even a blip on the radar of FEMALE singers getting paid last year, that shows the lack of involvement of her personally, whatever way you wanna cut this, if you dont write or put your shows together and have OVERSIGHT to who is watching the books, you are a nobody. This article could be about "countless" artists, look at homeboy Scott Storch, dude lost his house and his cars and all that other shit, granted he is an ego-maniac who lived a "hammer" like life, but i doubt Rihanna doesnt have "an entourage" thats sucking up the cash. as for touring for cash, she wouldnt make anything for the simple fact that the mere rentals of places and advertising, her band, her crews and promoters and radio spots etc..would suck up all that dough, plus she is on that list of "pop stars" of the day that can sell a million records, but cant come close to putting asses in seats for a live show.

you ain't lying! Beyonce toured like hell and didn't even make 100 million trillion! Anyway, it is kind of messed for her seeing that she is always walking around cocky and carbon copy lol . But hey 20,000 is more than tony's 2,000. But where in the hell is Jay Z in all this!

You are wrong concerning her touring. I know this for a fact. I could easily write out a short tour schedule for Rihanna (not that I would) where she wouldn't have to pay because it would be SPONSORED BY ADVERTISERS and she could make a decent sized amount of cash from it. She could do 10-12 "key" cities and she wouldn't have to fill the arenas completely but could easily do decent numbers without trying. She would get paid by the promoters who would get the money from the advertisers, so how many tickets sold wouldn't matter. I'm not saying it would solve all of her financial problems but it could get her over if she were in a jam.
Mini tours can pay some bills. Ask Prince.
I agree with you that it could be any celebrity in that position. The thing is, most celebs run out of money AFTER their popularity dies down. With where she is right now, she could do a mini tour and still pull numbers.
So, in actuality, seeing as how the article was fake, I guess its a non-issue for her at this time.
Personally, I don't think she's worth all of the fuss people make over her. She's not that talented to me. I guess being "pop" has its privileges?

She's good to look at, that's all. You should have seen her and her girl friends here at the Empire State Building last month. She was on her way to the Virgin Megastore and I guess she wanted to see the ESB. Talk about eye candy!!!
