Springsteen to perform at Super Bowl

TAMPA, Fla. - The Super Bowl might be six months away from coming to town, but the celebrity rumors already are running rampant.

The New York Post's Page Six reported on Tuesday that Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band will perform live at the Super Bowl halftime show on Feb. 1 at Raymond James Stadium.

Awesome! His show could be even better than Prince's.

Let's not go too far with that one. Prince is going to be a hard act to top and I don't see Bruce doing it but I can see Bruce giving one hell of a show.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Oh, I can see Bruce topping Prince easily. All Bruce has to do is avoid the covers. I still don't know why Prince played someone else's songs at the Super Bowl.

Bruce will not come close to toping Prince. I will bet on that.Furthermore Prince could care less....Bruce is not as good as he use to be unlike Prince, he gets better by the day.

Springsteen is a perfect choice.I'm surprised that he hasn't played the Super Bowl in the past.

LMFAO. I saw the Boss in April and of the 10+ times I've seen him over the last 20 years, it was the best concert I've ever seen him put on.

Both Prince and Bruce are incredible performers. I say Bruce could - could - do a better Super Bowl only because of Prince's song choices. If Bruce sticks to his biggest hits and best songs, he can do better than Prince's collection of hits and covers.

Not that Prince's set was bad; it just wasn't as good as it could have been. There was no need to play covers, IMHO.

Very different kettle of fish. Bruce tends to need a full set to stretch out and blow people away. If this comes to pass, I have a feeling it will seem underwhelming in comparison to Prince's flash (and I far prefer Bruce to Prince).

It's been my experience that people who see a Springsteen show come away raving, but those who only see a few numbers on TV tend to shrug their shoulders and say he didn't live up to the hype. And - if that were all I'd seen - I'd probably agree.

I'll try to find my Sr album and see if I have stubs - I could be very wrong about the second concert . In that time frame I went to a lot of places and concerts Detroit, NY, Out west - florida

Springsteen could definitely top Prince's performance. I agree that Prince played too many covers; that was perplexing. He's written some of the best songs ever, and he plays the Foo Fighters? Huh?!

I was never a fan until seeing him in concert. And not even in person, just on TV. He's definitely one of the all time great performers in his own way. He's not a dancer, not a spectacular singer or guitar player, he's just an engaging performer who can play the same old songs and make them exciting.

Even now, though, his records don't hold the same kind of excitement for me.

yeah that's actually how he built his reputation in the beginning, I believe. But his guitar playing isn't really the focus of a show, is it?

Yeah, he was known as the fastest gun in Asbury before he signed his record deal, but he doesn't play that way anymore. And you're right: guitar solos are not a big part of his shows (although Nils Lofgren usually plays one mind-blowing extended piece per concert).
