Don Helms dies at 81 Renowned steel guitarist Don Helms dies at 81
8/12/2008, 7:56 a.m. CDT The Associated Press LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) — Don Helms, a renowned steel guitarist and member of Hank Williams' Drifting Cowboys band, died Monday morning of an apparent heart attack. He was 81. Helms performed annually in the Lafayette area at the Tribute to Hank Williams fundraisers for the Liberty Theater in Eunice. Helms was the last remaining link to the Drifting Cowboys band. His guitar was heard on more than 100 of Williams' recordings, including "Your Cheatin' Heart," "Cold, Cold Heart" and "I Can't Help (It If I'm Still In Love With You)."Terry Huval of Lafayette, a Cajun fiddler and organizer of the local Hank Williams tributes, said Helms had been hospitalized since July 2, following a heart attack and stroke. Huval said Helms was recovering from a triple heart bypass, performed 10 days ago, before his status took a turn for the worse Sunday night. No memorial details have yet been released.

go to the GD forum There's no sound reason for the absence of an Isaac Hayes sticky in this forum. He was a MUSICIAN first and foremost! tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. C'mon y'all."

How can a musician as influencial as Issac Hayes not get a sticky and let's be real, a sticky for a musician in GD, of all places? This is not to negate what happened to Don Helms, that is sad and my prayers go to his family. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that
