Vote for the concert I'm seeing Saturday night

Okay, when I tried to get tickets to see Steely Dan, they were sold out supposedly, on the good seats. Now, four nights before the show, I can get third row. confused Good news right? Unfortunately, it's 150 bucks and the last show got terrible reviews. I'd be pissed to pay that much and they suck.

Second is Mint Condition, BBD, Troop and Ready for the World.Never seen any of these cats live.

Third is Harold Melvin's Blue Notes, Enchantment and The Stylistics. Seen Enchantment. They kinda sucked but saw The Stylistics with Russell Tompkins and it was one of the best shows I've seen.

HELP!!! bawl

I'd say do the Mint Condition, BBD, Troop and Ready for the World thang. I saw BBD last month and they're show was pretty high energy. Mint Condition always puts on a good show.

Anxiety

go with the middle option. it looks like that's the one that has the least chance of disappointment and the most options of people you've never seen play before.

Harold & The Blue Notes, Enchantment & The Stylistics (is this the version with Russell?)
It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.

Without hesitation, see option 3.
Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it.

I'm torn between #2 and #3 (mostly cuz of The Stylistics). Ok wait, I vote for #2. Might as well go for the cheaper ticket and you can't go wrong with BBD and Mint Condition. I'm sure you'll get the most for the cost. I will cry if you do go and report that RFTW is still rockin the curls.

The Dan kills live! What is this rubbish review you're talking about? I'm sceptical of it to say the least....my only critisism of the Steely Dan show I saw last year was it was in an arena. Their arrangements are quite complex and subtle which can get lost in the echo of such a large building.

The band was hot!
Third row where the sound is close sounds fricken fantastic!

Must've been written by a 20-something too-hip-to-live reviewer. disbelief
Unless there were some kind of technical problems that's hard to believe.

If you're looking for some kind of over-produced stage show (style over substance), then pick something else.
If you want to see/hear a bunch of well written and time tested material played with extreme skill by superb musicians, spend the money.

I saw them here in L.A. a few weeks ago and they killed! As a matter of fact everytime i've seen them they've been good.
Btw, Steely Dan and "suck" are mutually exclusive terms.

That being said, my second choice would be Mint Condition.
(however i'm not sure I could sit through the other acts on that show)

I'm apprehensive about shows with acts that make up your 3rd choice.
At this point in time maybe they've got one original member left.

Hope you have a good time whatever you decide to do. wink

Go with the third option. The second option would be good if it were three other 1980s groups performing with Ready For The World but I be damned if I would sit through some boring ass 1990s groups just to see one 1980s group.

I would go with option 2 or 3. I've seen BBD (both with New Edition and by themselves). They give a good show. As for the other groups, I've never heard anything bad about them live.

For Option 3, I would see that show strictly for Enchantment. I LOVE them.

You want to see legends put on a finely crafted, professional, understated show, see the Dan.

If you want to see an energetic, well-played show by established R&B musicians who can remind you of what rhythm and blues is supposed to sound like today, go see MC. The undercard looks pretty good too.

But a buck fitty for the Dan? Really? I paid half that 2 years ago.

They're playing a tiny venue here and the tickets are selling out at that price.

Honestly, I'd go see the Dan in a small venue at that price, and before I went to see Mint Condition. Small venue shows are a rare treat for folk of that caliber. I still kick myself for missing a Gil-Scott Heron show in a small venue in my town years ago.

Go see the Dan, in that case!
