Luther Vandross & Marcus Miller

Why weren't these two given the same status as other power house producers/writers such as Jam & Lewis, Babyface & LaReid, ete, etc??? eek
I'm also curious why Marcus really seperated himself from the Luther sessions?
Its almost like he doesn't want to be associated with that part of his career, even though they were his most successful.
eek HELP!

I think they were a powerhouse team @ the time,,,but Luther lost the magic when he let OTHERS produce him.

And this is the 1st time I hear about Marcus alienating himself from Luther's music hmmm since he contributed a song in Luther's last album Dance With My Father.

I've been follwing Marcus' career since day one. I never saw anything recorded< print or otherwise about him discussing Luther or the sessions. A little odd, don't you think?

I don't think Marcus avoid's talking about Luther. I think it's hard for him. They were great friends.people tend to forget that. I personally think that the early Luther records has some of Marcus' most influential playing. 4 me ,as a bass player, that's my fav work of his.

On the DVD "From Luther, With Love," they talk to Marcus about working with Luther and it was nothing but good things said.

Also on the VHS "The Best of Luther Vandross" has both Marcus and Nat Adderly Jr. talking about writing and working with him.
