I've always wondered...at what moment did legends become legends? some say a specific album, song, or performance. I think its time....

say with PRINCE... he always been cool, but the grand public favor before 2004 was somewhat mixed...msot peopel thought he was still a freak in 2003. but when he came out at the 2004 grammy's there was a major shift and people realized that, tis been 20 years since purple rain, he's still performing, and he's "normal"...ok : legendary status...


but i always wodnered with the stevie wonders, aretha franklins, elvis,etc... how/ most importantly , WHEN did they shift from GREATLY RESPECTED ARTISTS to....legendary status.

had to be a specific moment.... but i think it mainly goes to time.


especially madonna....when did she cross into legendary status? seriously....at what moment

Simplified I think its when they all transcended the Genre that they all were labeled with..
and
Instead of being "another Artist" in that Genre, they became someone that defined the best of that particular Genre..If not the Best..then at least the most
"important/copied/revered/respected" during the time that they were doing thier thing.

I think Madonna did during the Blonde Ambition era. That was just such an iconic era, everyone could even see it then. Michael Jackson during the Thriller era. I think it also has alot to do with when they really hit it big globally, then it becomes undeniable. Anyone with a 25 year career will be a legend, even if it's lackluster
