Sticky and Sweet Tour---rumors from the rehearsals

Here we go again.Madonna's world tour kicks off in August and so that means in the coming weeks,we will hear lots of rumors about the setlist.Rehearsals have already started and already, the first batch of rumors are circulating, supposedly from "insiders" connected to the tour, lol.Take it all with a grain of salt lol

***Opening song will be "Candy Shop".

***The second song will be "Beat Goes On",which will be the third single in America ("Miles Away" will be the third single in Europe).

***"Dress You Up" and "Everybody" are in the setlist.

***"Holiday" is out,as is "Borderline".Jamie King is trying to convince her to include the latter.

***"Rain" won't be included, but it may be used during a video/intermission/costume change.

***According to one source,a slower, more folk version of "Borderline" is still being considered. But as of last week, they have tested over 50 songs."Beat Goes On","Miles Away" and "Give It To Me" are definite, but "Spanish Lesson" is a definite NO.

***"Open Your Heart" is in consideration and will be rehearsed, not sure if it will make the final show.

***Even though "Candy Shop" is the opening song,"Heartbeat" is being strongly considered as well.

***"Incredible","Spanish Lesson" and "Voices" are the only Hard Candy tracks that will not be performed on this tour.

***"Music" will again be on the setlist. It's one of the final four songs, along with "Hung Up","Give It To Me" and "4 Minutes".

***"Vogue" is being considered.

***"Rescue Me" was suggested by a crew member and Madonna found it laughable to even consider.

***"Love Profusion" is a distinct possibility. It could be performed in a medley with it's "cousin" track "Miles Away".

Madonna is doing vocal arrangements in London while the dancers are rehearsing in New York. She will join them on June 20th.

yeah, and i think i know why. it's because she couldn't even come close to giving a vocal delivery like this again. the Evita training completely ruined her for growly/gutteral/torchy type of singing, which was kind of really the only thing that her vocal style had going for it to beging with. confused

disappointed that Incredible isn't going to be included. it's gone from a complete waste of space on the album to me to one of my favorites. (oh, and it's still in my signature isn't it? lol)

btw, how official is that Beat Goes On/Miles Away single info?

probably the best choice for the US (best track on the album, actually). in fact, Miles Away seems like the only one that would be good for both markets and that BGO and Give It 2 Me are the ones that should be the split picks for either side of the Atlantic.

I think she should use a remix of "Incredible" for this tour....you know, the part that goes "it's time to get your hands up...it's time to get your body moving"? Turn that into a frenzied remix and use it as an interlude/costume change segment.

I have no idea if this news is official but I'd be satisfied if those two songs became singles wink

And so the disappoint ment begins. I should never read these spoilers. Im bummed she wont be performing incredible - but as with the uncertainty of Borderline - i think she considers her live vocal limitations when choosing the set list.

One good thing is, Jamie King is clearly trying to load the setlist with oldies, and even though shes resisting now - his say has the most sway with her.
Im amazed theres been no talk of Like A Prayer, Express Yourself, or anything off LAP at all.

Rain's a disappointment, thats something of a fan fave - as is most of Erotica. AShe normally performs one song from each album, so maybe we'll get Deeper & Deeper off that one. Apparently there will be a song off Im Breathless - dont know if that means Vogue - but shes always said she likes this album.

No mention of any Bedtime story stuff either. I think take A bow is the most obvious choice, Secret was nice on DWT, but a little meh. I just hope the final section isnt the usual Music, Hung Up shyit. Mix it up madge, you're supposed to like doing that.

"Incredible" is my second favorite song on 'Hard Candy' but I don't know it would work in a live setting hmmm It's a very fast, busy song...especially the second half.

Honestly,I could do without "Music" this time around.I know she considers it to be some sort of anthem but I'm tired of hearing it on her tours.I feel the same way about "Holiday".Retire these songs! "Beat Goes On" is the new 'Holiday',as far as I'm concerned. She should perform that as the final song.

I'm sure Jamie will get his way lol He always does. He'll convince her to add lots of old songs that she otherwise wouldn't perform....already,we have "Dress You Up" and "Everybody" in the setlist, with "Open Your Heart" being considered.I'd like to see some other old songs that don't get performed very often on her tours....

"Justify My Love"----how about a funky, more R&B flavored version of this song?

"Causing A Commotion"---I'd rather hear this instead of a more common, overplayed song like "Ray Of Light".

"Angel"---the best song on Like A Virgin

When she does her acoustic guitar thing,I hope she plays something like "To Have And Not To Hold".That song gives me chills and I would go nuts if she performed a haunting version to be followed by "Miles Away" love

I'd love her to do Angel.

Well I'd love to hear/see songs she nevcer did before like Rescue Me, but I'm sure she can't sing such a song anymore.
Around 1990 she had that really shitty "i'm doing a black-thing" voice, you know Family Affair in Keep It Together...

well, how about Keep It Together performing again? So far it's my favorite Madonna performance ever and it would be nice if she'd do it completely different.

but as always there will be pleasant and unpleasant surprises. So far the only setlist I fully liked was the one for BAT,

some more news from "insiders".....

***Jamie King is currently trying to convince Madonna to perform the following songs:

"Open Your Heart"
"Borderline"
"Physical Attraction"
"Express Yourself"
"Vogue"
"Justify My Love"
"Rescue Me"
"Erotica"
"Bedtime Story"
"Take A Bow"
"Human Nature"

and a few others. He's come up with some exciting new choreography/themes/ideas for these songs and plans to show Madonna when she returns to the rehearsals in New York.

***Madonna will definitely perform something from the Dick Track 'I'm Breathless' album. That's one of her favorite albums.

Me too. That's such a great song music I'm surprised she hasn't performed it very much on previous tours.

Well I'd love to hear/see songs she never did before like Rescue Me, but I'm sure she can't sing such a song anymore.

"Rescue Me" is a filler track. With all the amazing Madonna songs to choose from, that track shouldn't even be considered at all.

I agree,"Keep It Together" should be performed on this tour.

i haven't bought tickets yet (with madonna shows i tend to wait until closer to the date of the show because scalpers get desperate and i get great deals...like 90 bucks total for 3 tickets in chicago during reinvention) but i'm excited to see rumors that most of the new record is being represented. forget open your heart and love profusion, though. throw in vogue and like a prayer instead.

Same here.I wouldn't want to see a predictable "greatest hits show" by Madonna.I like how her recent tours are mostly focused on her newest album(s).I'm sure it's more exciting for her too....singing mostly "new" songs.

i'm just excited that my two pop divas are out at the same time and i will be seeing them weeks from one another.

i know! i know!

i don't get into the comparing (b/c they do two totally different things and it always seems silly to compare) but i'm really thrilled to see how they execute their shows, considering both have been out for about as long as each other and have such an extensive repertoire.

Yeah i agree. Im sure its a way of stretching a segment out, giving her an excuse not to have to dance around - but its just boring. Id rather see her lip-synch her way through a medley of "Jimmy Jimmy"/"Cry baby"/"Spanish Lesson" than see another guitar section though. Its as sure to happen as her turning up though, so im not holding my breath.

I glanced at the list but won’t bother to retain anything. I want to be surprised.

There’s nothing like the house lights going out and being surprised by what the opening song is. I don’t need to know every song she’s going to perform. I just need to be there (which I’ll be cool ). Everything else will fall into place from there. The T-shirts are nice.

she's crazy for not including stuff from earlier in her career, it would sound so good back to back with her recent stuff, all carefree dance. LAP, Express Yourself and Vogue better be there!!!

The lead up to a Madonna tour is always a lot of fun. I love reading all these rumors most of which prove not to be true.
I wouldn't get too upset about what they say about the setlist though, since the final setlist is usually nothing like these rumors.

Agreed.I love all the speculation, incorrect details and wild rumors that lead up to a Madonna tour.I take most of this "information" with a grain of salt but it's fun to read.I don't think we will even know the confirmed setlist until the first show on August 23.

I doubt Dress U up will make it. It gets on the list every time and it never makes it.

Interesting that hardly anything from the last album is in the list and Erotica, Like a prayer and Bedtime Stories are ignored as usual.

that's my tactic too...buying tickets at the last minute. It was so not a problem last time.

I can't wait to hear what drama is going to go into it, costumes, themes, props, etc. That's my favorite part, the thematics. nod How is she ever going to top getting up on a cross? lol
