For me it wasn't that hard to forget (along with the following album Everybody's Dancin').
Both were precursors to the addition of vocalist JT and the New Edition of Kool & The Gang.

Sorry but i'm a serious hard-core fan of the 1969-1976 material.

this is the time period
in which I am diving head first

just had a chat with Cinnie
about how I was familiar with
tunes like "Joanna", "Cherish",
"Celebration", etc etc...

but had NO IDEA they could bring
the FONK/JAZZ as well...
when I found out it was actually
Kool & The Gang that did
"Summer Madness" I was like eek

Hard-core fan here also but it is a mistake to think that this album is anything like cherish or Joanna, They were stiil pretty raw.

And if you needed any further inducement...

...Quite an endorsement on that time period.

Glad to hear that. highfive

They weren't bad albums but definitely transition records.
You must admit that on those 2 albums some of the raw edges were getting some serious burnishing.

Removing a bad example edit.

What would you say is their last great album? Is it 'Open Sesame',which was released in 1976? I'm thinking about getting that one.I love the title track.

I wouldn't be that harsh. The last album of that period. smile

Love the title tune...

...A little slick and goofy but still a driving track. dancing jig
