Because what you said is false. Lil' Wayne couldn't go verse-for-verse with Nas, Jay-Z, Pharoahe Monch, MF Doom, Mos Def, Kweli, or Common, much less the MC's who could be on Hip-Hop's Mount Rushmore -- KRS-ONE, Chuck D, Rakim, or the departed Christopher Wallace or Tupac Shakur. For that matter, Kelvin Mercer would destroy the kid on the mic. He's the hottest MC alive. No doubt. But hottest and greatest are 2 different things. Lil' Wayne is guilty of the same thing Biggie was in my opinion. He comes up with hot lines but he ain't saying sh*t. His subject matter is garbage. To top it off, unlike Biggie, Wayne tends to be scattered at times. He needs some FocusinĀ®.

[Edited 8/7/08 14:48pm] Don't quite agree. Many Biggie tracks are cohesive and substantive. Take "Everyday Struggle," "Ten Crack Commandments" and "What's Beef?" for starters. Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016

If by "many" you mean "a few" then I agree, otherwise not. MOST, and I mean MOST of Biggie's sonsg were about drugs and sex and doing dirt. Pac was very three dimensional. Biggie was much less so. That was always an issue of mine with B.I.G. I always thought that his talent was wasted on bullshit subject matter. He had the skills of a great M.C. but he was usually on some bull with his choice of subjects. Wayne does the same thing. In a day where lyricists are rarer than back then, he stands out. If you put Wayne in 1990 he wouldn't last two seconds but I was speaking on the matter in real time; time that's relative to each perspective artist. Right now, Wayne shows "some" lyrical prowess compared to his contemporaries - meaning other POPULAR rappers. Of course MF, Pharoahe, Wise Intelligent, NYOIL, etc. are excluded from the comparison. Wayne is hot in terms of popularity and among his popular contemporaries, he stands out a bit. I still say Luda is better but some would disagree.

Hes the Jim Crow of the millenium, this ghetto minstrel shit has to go, hes a crude imitation of head clown Lil Jon himself. They advocate drugs, hoes, bling lifestyle crime, negro unacheivement and hedonistic lifestyles, the man is great if you want to push black progress to 1808.
Rapping to me is not a form of music, any cretin can swear along to a drum machine beat. It is aural pollution. 17 Years ago I made a commitment to Prince

"Few" indicates three or less. "Many" indicates more than that. True, a majority of his rhymes weren't about much, but about half of Ready To D.I.E. ("Things Done Changed," "Suicidal Thoughts," "Ready to Die") and several tracks on Life After Death were (including the prophetic "You're Nobody Till Somebody Kills You"). So maybe we should settle at "several." Pac may have been more poetic, smarter, and more talented lyrically, but he was almost bipolar. Biggie stayed in a certain groove, like or hate him. He stayed "in character." But because Pac had so much promise, he wasted more of it than Biggie did. ]Wayne does the same thing. In a day where lyricists are rarer than back then, he stands out. All that's true. Hence my point to the kid who posted this. Those MCs from the 1990's are still alive. Many of them are still in the game, and could embarrass Weezy on the mic today. And because the underground MCs might as well not exist, you're right, which is why I said that Weezy is the hottest MC alive. He's a cut above the Hit-Pop MCs because he does have a modicum of skill. [Edited 8/8/08 7:49am] Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016

Shoo fly! From the songs i've heard from him his style is just wack. I just don't feel a consistent flow with his music and lyrics like some of the rap greats. Let's not even get started on the content of his lyrics. [Edited 8/6/08 20:12pm] I have to be honest, Lil Wayne is a straight up joke and scary disappointment.... "A united state of mind will never be divided
The real definition of unity is 1 People can slam their door, disagree and fight it But how U gonna love the Father but not love the Son? United States of Division"

Did every other rapper on the planet die?
I would have thought that would make the news. Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it. |

Wait a minute, did Chuck D., Scarface, Ice Cube, Nas, Andre 3000, Rakim, and about 20 other rappers all just die simultaneously? All them dudes are washed up bro. Lil Wayne can hold his own. Andre 3K even said Lil Wayne is that piff.At the moment Lil Wayne is that piff.

Andre 3K even said Lil Wayne is that piff.At the moment Lil Wayne is that piff. You must be one of them "new" dudes. Newsflash: when you create something great, it doesn't get erased when you stop doing music or become less current. You can't erase those dudes' contributions to hip-hop and regardless of how many records they sell or whatever, talent is talent. There's plenty of garbage that's selling - that doesn't make it good. So you mean to tell me that if you turned the cameras and recorders off and said to Dre3K "Hey Andre, do you think Wayne is a beter rapper than you" he would say "hell yes"? Get the fuck outta here. I'll believe that shit when I see it; then and only then. Even if he would say it, I know better. Wayne is good but his subject matter is wack and sometimes his rhymes are, too. The rest of them stay on the fringes of the game, and THEY'D kill Weezy on the mic. Hell, Jigga would kill that kid. Anyone who thinks exposure and sales is commensurate with greatness as an MC has to re-evaluate their hip-hop awareness. By that measure, Weezy couldn't get with HAMMER or Robert Van Winkle!
