The Dalvin written and produced "S'more" is my favorite cut by them. But collectively, BIM were always better songwriters and arrangers. And Uptown "Unplugged" is hot. I still bump that. But that was one moment in time. And they had people helping on backgorund vocals. Let's hear Jodeci ever do "It's So Hard" or "Silent Night" or "Still Of The Night" a capella. THEY CAN'T!! Listen hooker I can read just fine. Its just that your ass is proclaiming your opinion like u a liable musical critic for male groups where in you aint. Have u looked in the mirror? Can u see out your eyes and realize that you don't even know what the fuck u talkin about? That's what I thought...just another nobody talkin loud and sayin nothing. Sitting on here battling everybody who gives just a litte bit of credit to Jodeci. Get a life. [Edited 8/6/08 12:06pm] Classic org shit right here! You should be a mod! Jodeci easily.
Never much liked Boyz2men outside "motownphilly" and "under pressure". Only 3 albums but each were great. Iam also one of the few that loved Jodeci's uptempo's aswell. Their last album is a high concept muddle, but theres some fantastic tracks if you look past the bullshit interludes. And for 1993, "diary of a mad band" was ahead of its time slightly production wise. Little surprise when you see Timbaland and Missy on there.

Jodeci by far.. Some people think I'm kinda cute
But that don't compute when it comes 2 Y-O-U.

Here's the thing... I never thought that Jodeci was a great group. To me, they were just a bunch of guys that were trying to sing, nothing special. Boyz II Men, as I said in my last post, sounded better, had better material and reminded me of those groups that sang in the 60's. Bishop31 said: I always dug Jodeci more. Devante was an amzing Producer who could have been better had not Drugs taken over.
But, Boyz II Men had some incredible ballads back in the day. I really miss those days of GOOD R&B music. I seem to remember Devante producing some tracks for Tupac? And rumours he hd worked with Michael Jackson on "invincible" (though he worked with everybody on that album apparantly). Yeah, you could sorta say Devante did for Timbaland what Teddy did for Pharrell, with Devante inparticular overseeing Timbalands progress. Devante was, and maybe still is, a great producer. Thank God Prince turned him down LOL. Be horrible if he woulda got stuck at Paisley LOL Boyz2men's vocals annoyed me alot of the time. Harmony showboating is annoying. Jodeci oversing aswell, but as thats more moulded in rnb slowjams, I let them slide some of the time. Shai were OK, but Silks first album was alot better then theirs. Lost track of both groups after that. "Freak me" still sounds good today though. [Edited 8/6/08 21:04pm]

AFAIC, K-Ci & Jo Jo were THE voices of Jodeci. Okay, but this post is about Jodeci not K-Ci & Jo Jo. If it were about them against Boys II Men, I think it would be more of an even competition. "Love is like peeing in your pants, everyone sees it but only you feel its warmth"

If it were K-Ci & JoJo vs. Boyz II Men, BIIM would win in a landslide. The Hailey Brothers did some nice things, but they were no Jodeci. "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis

(especially the silk/shai comparison) The only thing Silk has over Shai is more consistency. For my money, "Lose Control" (the song) is the only thing Silk ever did that matches up with Shai's best ("If I Ever Fall in Love," "Yours," "Together Forever," "Baby I'm Yours"). I do love "Happy Days" as well -- it's funny how my favorite 2 songs on their debut are the only 2 that don't have "me" or "you" in the title. I do like that album, though. As overrated as "Freak Me" was in its heyday, it's still a good song. Vocally, member for member, Shai had better singers than all of the others. No weak links in that foursome... No,they didn't last very long but I really enjoyed their debut album. The remix version of "If I Ever Fall In Love" plus the catchy, midtempo jam "Baby I'm Yours".These guys were talented and unpretentious. It's time to pull that CD out!

DeVante Swing was knocked back by Prince, but P. gave him some advice - learn to play your own instruments... the 4hisdamnself sound was born! 'dre Tried many flavours - but sooner or later, always go back to the Purple Kool-aid!

This is tough cause I digged them both. It's a tie. One was for romance/love stuff where the other was for romance/sex stuff. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

They were some of the first "studio" singers as well as studio "gangstas" of the 90s. Image, both groups were manufactured. Oh I highly disagree with u. Obviously u haven't seen "MTV Uptown Unplugged". Jodeci sounded better live than they ever did in the studio. Boys II Men were always mediocre live, there was just Wanya and those three other guys on stage. Seen Boyz twice and K-ci & Jojo once. They actually played on the same billing! Boyz knocked em out the park for real! Wanye slayed both K-ci & Jojo IMO. Mos def thought the Boyz sounded great live, even without Michael. _ Music, sweet music, I wish I could caress and...kiss, kiss...
