I LIKE Chipmunk'd version of really hard rap songs -- especially a lot of Southern rap, snap and crank. They just have a certain SWAG to 'em. I think it's the original tempo that makes it work better Chipmunk'd.

Case in point: Earlier this year, I was getting GONE off the Chipmunk'd version of Dream's Shawty Is The Shit.

I think it helps if the song is slower to begin with because once it is Chipmunked, it is clear it wasn't sped up to achieve the effect. lol

It helps if the song is "hard" to begin with because the sweetening of the Chipmunky voice is part of the subversive fun. lol

(Why would anyone bother chipmunking a fast song that already had sweet high pitched vocals)

Slow beginning tempo helps too because it's still not "too fast" once it is sped up
