Agreed. Aussie music! yay!

Also- Guy Sebastian (who sounds about 16656454 times better LIVE, in the arena and who has developed his voice so much more in the last few years):

Tim Freedman:

In addition to:
Stevie
MJ
Eva Cassidy
Sinatra
Al Green

a few others i probs forgot...

Guy is quite good unlike the rest of the idol rejects and he still manages to put out albums which is always nice.

And Tim is quite good too smile

Very true about Guy- I can tell you from personal experience that the studio and TV do him NO justice. He is sooo much better live and he's the first artist I know / have seen who actually sounds BETTER live than on his albums.

From my Stevie bootlegs I can tell he's amazing live- I can't wait to see him in Oct! biggrin

I definitely agree with that! Her voice is beautiful!

I'm surprised no one's mentioned Jeff Buckley yet!

http://www.youtube.com/wa...gc6-rgA16k One of the most beautiful vocals I've ever heard!

Yeah I've never been big into Guy but at least he has good vocals unlike Shannon Nole for example. His voice is exactly the same in EVERY DAMN SONG!

And yes I also cant wait to go see Stevie in October! woot!

I am always late to the good threads...
sad

Here is my list of a few...

The late Boni Boyer, God bless her soul.

Otis Stokes - Lakeside

Robert Brookins. Listen to him kill it on Wayman Tisdale's cover of Norman Conners' Starship.

Sade - Talk about someone who sounds the same live! Her power in concert floored me.

And these cats too: Philip Ingram - Kevon Edmonds - Howard Hewett - Eric Benet - the late Luther Vandross.
We all want the stuff that's found in our wildest dreams.

Seems like there may be a difference of opinion as to what would constitute a "pure voice".
IMO, that's enunciation, clear vocal tone and the ability to delivery a specific melody accurately.

Dionne Warwick as the voice of Burt Bacharach/Hal David material would qualify in my book.

I'd rank her as the BEST female vocalist of all time.
