One person's shit is another's idea of good music. I know most people think WORKIN' OVERTIME sucks but i kind of like it. I love the title track and a couple others as well. I'm glad I have this on CD. Love the "Nile Rodgers" sound. It reminds me of the work he did on Grace Jones INSIDE STORY and Sheena Easton DO YOU.

THIS IS MANDATORY LISTENING for anyone who claims they are a music fan. Amen to that!!!! I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

The only ross album I have. I think "my old piano" is truly a pop masterpiece.

Now, I did LOVE the original Chic mix of My Old Piano and Friend to Friend. Yeah I can see to some degree why the songs were changed UD and ICO definitely sounded "unfinished" but I loved Diana's vocals on those versions. I like it when she sang "I'm a-WARE that you're cheating!" Nile said he wanted Diana to sound like that, Diana apparently didn't agree, lol.

Here's the "Chic Mix" version of "Upside Down"....it sounds flat to me,lacking the power and urgency of the released version that we know so well. I agree about Upside Down. I also feel the same way about "I'm Coming Out". The original Chic mix of those songs lacked the same "umph" that the released versions had. Now, I did LOVE the original Chic mix of My Old Piano and Friend to Friend. Yeah, and I can't believe that Niles and Bernard were gonna release the record that way.The vocals were flat and "lazy".Diana clearly wasn't giving her all.The released version is PERFECT.It sounds like Diana went back in and re-recorded most of her vocals, with much more enthusiasm.

But didn't Nile and Bernard say that they thought that with their version, Diana was giving it her all on their version? I thought I had read that. Personally, I love both versions. I give credit to Miss Ross for having that material remixed.
Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards were trying to make themselves the star of the show. You know Diana Ross ain't having that! Think of the Nile/Bernard productions of that era. I don't think any of those artists had a viable career 5 years after the record was released. Diana made a smart move.

Did you guys know that, after this album,Diana considered doing another album with Bernard and Niles? She had just left Motown and signed with RCA,and there was talk of another Chic-produced album to be released in 1981.It would have been her RCA debut.Alas,it didn't happen.

I think Motown (Berry Gordy) commissioned for it to be remixed by Diana's mixer. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-
