Mike Scott is a great session player with a very distinct style. His playing on The Greatest Romance is awesome. He's also smooth as hell on Chaka's Come 2 My House....

Jeff Beck - "Cause We're Ended As Lovers"..Pure emotion and lyrical. Perfect music that fits that mood. Every guitarist should know that song.

Shuggie Otis - "Strawberry Letter 23"..That fade out lick/tone is amazing.

Funkadelic - "Maggot Brain".Do I even need to explain?

P's cover - "Just My Imagination"..NOT the "He's Got The Look" aftershow version but the version from the LOVESEXY rehearsal. Beautiful.

George Benson - "This Masquerade"..One of the 1st "jazz" solos I've ever heard as a kid. Blew me away.

Jimi - "Little Wing" and "Wind Cries Mary".

diamondpearl I thought I was the only one who dug the "Hard To Get" fade out solo..Total B.B style..but something tells me that solo was actually done by Rick himself.

Bijou - Queen (played by Brian May)

Actually anything played by Brian his guitar has the best sound to it.,

funkadelic-cosmic slop (live).... mike hampton was the heir 2 eddie's throne and he made his bones on this one....

Prince-pink cashmere-that dance between his guitar and the orchestra is breathtaking....

los lonley boys-onda....Carlos is definitley smilin on Henry Garza on this one

Jimi - "Little Wing" and "Wind Cries Mary".

it wasn't Tom McDermott? well we all know a lot of times the studio differs from the live stuff.... what got me 2 "hard to get" is that the bass and guitar are so in sync u can just feel it

Off the top of my head:

Hendrix:

Drifting (including the backwards leads)
(Have You Ever Been) To Electric Ladyland
May This Be Love
The backwards lead to "Are You Experienced" To me, it's one of the most beautiful sounds I have ever heard in my life. Call me sick, that's cool too.
The title track "Bold As Love"
Little Wing

The guitar on Brook Benton's "Rainy Night In Georgia". I know Tony Joe White wrote it, but I don't know who's playing the guitar on the recording. But who ever it is, THAT's beautiful to me.

Jeff Beck on Rod's version of "People Get Ready"

Eddie Hazel on "Fantasy Is Realty"

I know it's Bobby Womack's song but I believe it's Reggie Young playing on Wilson Pickett's "I'm In Love". I love Booby's version too.

George Benson's "Breezin" which Bobby Womack also wrote.
SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."
nammie "What BGZ says I believe. I have the biggest crush on him."

The guitar solo toward the end of the Eagles, "I can't tell you why". I think it was done by Don Felder.

Everyone has covered them so I'll try not to be too redundant.

Since beauty is in the ear of the beholder I'll say my favorite tones.

Allan Holdsworth - Road Games. Devil Take The Hindmost

Steve Vai - The Boy From Seattle. Rescue Me Or Bury Me

Randy Rhoads - Tonight

Any Albert, BB or Freddie King

Jeff Beck - Star Cycle, The Pump. Kowtow (Mick Jagger)

Edward Van Halen - Mean Streets. Beautiful Girls

Keith Richards - Monkey Man

Prince - In A Spanish Villa. Any of the live 84-88 era

Nile Rodgers - You Can't Do It Alone

John Sykes - Still Of The Night

Jimi - Castles Made Of Sand. 1983. All Along The Watchtower. One Rainy Wish. Wait 'Til Tomorrow

Larry Carlton - Third World Man. Things We Said Today

Ray Gomez - Blues For Mez

Eric Johnson - Venus Isle. When The Sun Meets The Sky

Frank Zappa - Watermelon In Easter Hay. Sofa. Zoot Allures.

Wes Montgomery - Portrait Of Jenny
