She didn't display weakness by saying she KNOWS her man ain't going anywhere because she's got that "good, good", which turns out to me more than just the physical. Mary J grew up and out of that mentality and Ashanti obviously has too (at least to a certain extent).
Men and women aren't made to war with each other but rather to co-exist. You can fight nature but eventually it will catch up with you. And I agree with you, that "pin-up girl" look really worked for her. Ashanti is way hotter to me now than she was when she started. She's grown into her womanhood quite nicely and as I have said many times on here before, she's one of the very few pop R&B artists that has actually IMPROVED as a vocalist to a noticeable extent. She found her voice. Too bad she didn't have "it" BEFORE everybody gave her all those fake accolades a few years back. Maybe she can start trying to live up to some of her hype.
