i try to write songs, but I can't even come up with stylish songtitles. Do you have any ideas??

In the style of

Heartbeat
Give It To Me
Around The Clock
Upside Down
Beat Goes On,,,


has someone any ideas? I mean, REALLY, it's important for me.

Shouldn't titles be inspired by the songs, themselves?

no, the Beatles did that a few times as well. John wrote "A Hard Day's Night" and "Help" because the films were called like that.
Paul wrote "Eight Days A Week" because he liked the phrase. The same goes for "Sgt. Pepper's..". Paul liked the phrase.
And let's not forget all the songs John wrote like Revolution, Cold Turkey, Give Peace A Chance, Happy X-mas (War Is Over), Imagine, Power To The People, Mind Games... all those were titles he just liked and wanted to use.

So, I'm still asking, does anyone have stylish songtitles ind the style of the ones i named in my first post?

It's better to write the lyrics first, and then come up with the title.

well, the problem is, I can come up with a catchy tune as soon as I have the song title. But I can't come up with cool ones.

"Week-long Hangover". Sounds about how I feel right now. Try to write using that?

I mean...you only have to look at the fact that a number of his songs are known by multiple titles (Moonbeam Levels/A Better Place to Die springs quickest to mind) to know that the songs come first.

I don't know. It's just that I want to make sure my song's title is stylish and catchy. A name like "I Think You're Right" is crap, imo. It sounds boring. I Feel For You has some great words in it....

graecophilos, I'm in agreement with those who argue the song should come first. To nearly all listeners, a song's content is so much more important than its title. I suppose there are some artists who are inspired by a name or phrase, but even then how are any of us to know which phrases would move you?

Have you any idea what your song will be about? Maybe that will help us help you.

yeah good point. I want them to be about dancing. YOu know, all that early/current Madonna and Kool & The Gang stuff.

The titles I came up with are

Around The Clock

and

Music Is My Saviour.


I also have a song called "Ain't No Good For Me" and I think "Keep My Love" sounds as a song okay, too? Or do you think it's crap?



But I don't want it to be dance songs like Dance Dance Dance or something like that. That would be too obvious.

Maybe some of you have some titles like that in mind. Song you know, but I don't know.

it sounds to dark for my taste. I want them as superficial as possible.
