He said it!

A quote from yesterday...

What they’re going to try to do is make you scared of me. You know, he’s not patriotic enough, he’s got a funny name, he doesn’t look like all those other presidents on the dollar bills.

Of course...there's only one president on the dollar bill. But let's not let facts get in the way of a soundbite.

I think we can safely assume that 'they'could refer to news media (fox) who report on "terrorists fist jabs", "osama, oops, obama mixups, followed by talks of assasinations", "he attended muslim schools" etc. Where was he incorrect in saying that fear would be used to deter people from voting for him?

I believe he's also said something to the effect that he is a fan of hip-hop, but not a fan of some of the language. How is he contradicting himself?

And there is only one president on the 1 dollar bill. Perhaps he should have listed all denominations of paper currency, to spell it out for those who didnt understand.

I know it's freedom of speech blah blah blah, but I'm so sick of all these stupid celebrities trying to make "political" statements, whether they're democrats, republicans, independents etc. Do a lot of ordinary people really care what the stars think anyway? I don't care one bit.

Ludacris is an idiot, as are all the other celebs trying to influence others in this election.

How can he be a fan of Luda who uses the exact language he claims to not be a fan of? lol

"They" is Bush and McCain. He was pretty clear about setting up the antecedent in his quote:

"Nobody thinks that Bush and McCain have a real answer to the challenges we face. So what they're going to try to do is make you scared of me," Obama said. "You know, he's not patriotic enough, he's got a funny name, you know, he doesn't look like all those other presidents on the dollar bills."

No, he isn't. He's insinuating that they already have and will continue to do so.

Well, I have a little prediction of my own. I predict that anyone who dares criticize The Anointed One between now and November - on any front, no matter how legitimate, no matter how issues based - will be accused of racism. It's already happening.

Hasn't happened to me, but I have gotten plenty of "How can you not be excited about his potential for the presidency?" I have no more issue with him than I do any other candidate. He's just another politician. Not the one for me, but plenty are excited and getting involved with social change who wouldn't otherwise. I'm only concerned about those who are absolutely convinced that he's going to bring about change in a big, big way. They're sure to be let down. It says more about current affairs than it does anything else.

Anyway, this is a dumb song and has no reflection on the Obamanator. He's been good about deflecting unwarranted criticism and attention, and I don't think this is going to be any different.

But look for this thread to move into P&R very soon. lol

He's insinuating that other people have already done it and stating that McCain and Bush will start doing it as the campaign progresses.

That hasn't happened to me yet, and I've been pretty critical of him. If it does, I guess I'll just shake it off as I've done with other heated accusations in other political races (e.g., "You're anti-American!" or "If you don't feel the way I do, you support the terrorists!").

Why would the Obama campaign call you a racist. Are you somebody who matters (in the context of the campaign)? confuse

I'm not talking about random Obama supporters calling non-supporters racists. This is about the campaign - the official line.

The other bit you're just wrong about...but I'm not going digging for examples.

I thought you were talking about the general American population debating politics.

Okay. Doesn't seem worth arguing about anyway. Originally, I was just jumping in to say that he had defined who he meant by "they."

Not aiming it at anyone but u know..shooting it in the air.
Usually done when something good has happened.

So I guess "lick a shot for Barack Obama" means to celebrate him for possibly being our new President.

Seriously, all you people do is bitch!!! The fact that Barack had to even mention this song shows how stupid people are!!!

Ludacris didn't make the song for Barack's approval, he made the song about his feelings about the election.

He's not a "thug", he's never been in trouble with the law, and he's not a "gangsta rapper"!!!
