When you think of Motown/Detroit/Motor City...you think of the Good: Music, and Cars & The Bad: 1967 riots and Kwame KILL-PATRICK

But on the bright side there are plenty of great artists who have come from Detroit!

My faves being: Madonna, Anita Baker, Matthew Mathers, Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson, Dwele, and a few other talented folk.

Same Sex Thursdays Downtown Detroit

Well, naturally, I love a lot of the Motown stuff, but as for my favourate artist associated with Detroit (but not actually from there), I'd have to say the great bluesman John Lee Hooker. Probably the leading light in the Detroit blues scene of the 40's-50's, and the only serious contender living in Detroit at that time who challenged the great blues coming out of Chicago.
