late again..as always

I've been sleeping on Kelis?

Are these just some select Gems or should I start buying this girl's music?

She has a lot of goodies in her catalogue. Check out this one for instance, from the album prior:

Kelis / Glow (feat. Raphael Saadiq) (2003)

Goddamn, that first Kelis album was what, 1999?

Wanderland was her best album--never released in the states 'cos Americans were too dumb to understand it. That's how good it was.

If you want to play quickie-catch up, just get this one:

It wasn't released in America because Interscope was idiots and other issues with Star Trak

Well stated.

To this day, almost 7 years after that album came out. I'm insanely jealous of people from Western Europe who got a chance to see her tour with that album in a headline way. I was a HUGE fan back then and she never once gave us the kind of show that she gave folks in London, Belgium, Paris, Sweden, etc.

I kinda have a chip on my shoulder from that. I just won't lie anymore. I mean that! loll

Kelis? drool Better late than never.

Wanderland is hot suff and probably my favorite as well. But then there's Tasty with Flashback, Millionaire and Glow.

She's due for some new material.

One of her many guest appearances and a beautiful track - Bjork's Oceania f/Kelis

Kelis:

I am the continent,
working with the moon
No one even knows me
But I'm always cold and blue

I revolve around the earth
There are worlds of things within me.
My belly's always full
freedom's glides on surface
Yes, my heart is deep within
Nations dive and trust me
Nations dive and trust me
I lay them at my shores
They dance with me in time.

Bjork:
You show me continents
I see the islands
You count the centuries
I blink my eyes

Bjork: Hawks and Sparrows
Kelis: Theres no one I can't reach
Bjork: Race in my waters
Kelis: Only I reflect the sky
Bjork: Stingrays are floating across the sky
Kelis: My power yes is infinite

I do this all for you
Bjork: Little Ones
Kelis: I do this all for you
Bjork: My sons and my daughters,
Kelis: I do this all for you

Kelis & Bjork: Your sweat is salty, I am why

"Young, Fresh n' New" flopped in the states. If Americans had wised up and responded to the single, the album would have gotten released somehow despite any supposed problems Virgin had with Star Trak at the time.

You had the import. Which is what I bought myself at Tower Records.
