Someone probably hypnotized the poster to like bullshit. They're pretty boys from the Disney channel, the same monsters who created High School Musicals 1, 2 and 3 and Hannah Montana and not to mention the Mickey Mouse Club. evillol

But judging from the screenname I guess we shouldn't be shocked the poster would rather like something that was "devoid of funk" anyway.

"I can't swim, I'm too cool to swim, I might get my hair wet...PUT ME DOWN! LET GO OF MY LEG! I HATE WATER!" lol

Ban me forever for saying this but the Jo Bros are not completely terrible. Truthfully, my music taste is somewhat influenced by my two young daughters right now, which is to say that the car soundtrack contains CDs by the Cheetah Girls, Hannah Montana, and other Disney artists on a continuous loop. But the JBs seem like alright kids. They play there own instruments, work extremely hard, and their songs are not devoid of pop hooks. Their "Burnin' Up" song is a 5th Generation Prince knock-off, with a nice little rap interlude, and is actually kind of a risky departure in sound for them.

Of course, I liked Hanson too so what the hell do I know?

When I have kids I'm going to force feed James, Sly, Prince, etc down their throats. And if they do like it, they're outta the house. lol

I hope you're not joking. Kids need to be educated like my parents educated me. At 10, 11, I realized most kid stuff was bullshit. lol

I can see myself being the same way, I will NOT have the next teen ditz playing in my house, nor will I buy them any products of theirs including t shirts! In my household, they will have to hear michael, janet, prince, stevie, lenny and other old school artists!

I like the Jonas Brothers. They make fun teenage pop-rock music and I have a penchant for that kind of music since it tends to be sonically brighter and less melancholic.

I got into them when they were struggling on Columbia/Daylight and were just some lesser known teen band. I was feeling their debut album about a good year before they became *GASP* THE Jonas Brothers[!!!OMGGZ!!], so I'm able to appreciate their music in a way I wouldn't if I didn't like the music to begin with.

I really enjoy their debut. And still play it when I want a pick me up. It's full of fun, upbeat, bright-sounding songs and the subject matter isn't all fucking doom and gloom. More power to them for being able to find success. I really didn't know they would blow up in the way they are now.

Their music is nowhere near as bad as some in this thread are making it out to be. It's enjoyable enough, and it's perfect for their target audience. They're kids - they'll grow with their music.

Exactly. I mean, damn, can't teens make teen music? "Kids of the Future," "Year 3000" and "S.O.S." aren't written with adults in mind.

Every generation deserves its share of fun music. Kids are fast enough as it is, at least have something fun to blast.

Agreed. Anything that's not cynical or hard-edged is completely dismissed anymore unless it's a throwaway novelty song. It's part of the reason popular music is in the dumps right now. They're not for me, but I can understand why they're popular with their audience; they're fun, upbeat and likeable. And just to second what gottaletitgo has already said, they write their own songs and play musical instruments. They're doing what a lot of people here are complaining is lacking from new music.

It took me until about 2 or so years ago to realize that.
Even though my Parents always spun good stuff, I was never really into music like that.

But when I was 15ish, I just stopped listening to the radio all together. I couldn't take it.

Then last May in 07 I really got into Prince...then he lead me to Hendrix...Sly...James...all those big names, and some rock, Zeppelin and the Stones...Those kinda things.
And Thank God all that happened because now I'm crazy about music...American music history and all that.

The Jonas Brother's really just sound like generic pop rock to me. Not to mention the fact they're over played. Mark my words, by 2010, they'll be GONE.

You guys can make fun of the Jonas Brothers, Miley Cyrus, Hillary Duff and the other 'tween singers, but their songs are far better and more listenable to anything being put out in the hip-hop, rap, emo, and rock genres today.

They are the last remaining vestiges of pop.

Kevin Jonas is a huge Prince fan. He mentions Prince all the time in his interviews. My 9 year old daughter (which is how I know all this) has a picture of him wearing a Lovesexy tour t-shirt. You know the one where he wears all the make-up and police hat?

Michael Bland and Tommy Barbarella are in Miley Cyrus' band. Or on her CD. Or both.

Yeah, I heard that! At least they still have jobs as studio musicians. Having played for Prince looks good on a resume I guess.

Though the Jonas Bros don't appeal to Prince fans, it's nice to know Prince appeals to the Jonas Bros. At least they are smart enough to recognize Prince's genius!

Yeah I know but we must remember where Britney and the boy bands got their start at. Sure back then we didn't think nothing of it. lol I remember when me and my nephew (he's just turned 23 yesterday) watching the MMC tho, lol. We were actually Disney FREAKS! falloff But of course we were also into the Simpsons, Beavis & Butthead and Ren & Stimpy too. lol
