Yeah I will eventually cave to eBay for this one, too. You got quite the haul this weekend, SoulAlive! Now just stay home and listen to them all. I'm in the process of recording these albums to CD-R.This is a major,time-consuming project that should keep me busy for the next three months or so

you will thoroughly enjoy C.K.
as I did when I first laid ears on it my favorites are (of course) "Sticky Wicked" "I'll Be Around", "The End Of A Love Affair" & "Where Are You Tonight" it's good all the way through what else did I recognize... you should enjoy Nightbirds also I think that's the one with "It Took A Long Time" (my mama's fav Labelle tune) the Mahogany soundtrack is a gem also I'm not familiar with track names & such but the song where Diana is modeling the colorful rainbow dress she had her auntie make whatever that song she was dancing to is on there... LOVES IT!!! great dig... I've always been interested in GQ my mama had a 45 for "Sitting In The Park" I loved it as a kid... but I never ventured further into their catalog let me know how that Two album is because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind."

about Pablo Cruise though
(I'm not familiar at all) is their "Love Will Find A Way" the same song as Lionel Richie's gem? [Edited 7/30/08 22:08pm] because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind."

the lead single. It's a solid effort, not quite as good as their four previous albums but solid nonetheless. The lead single was, as you can see on the sticker on the picture, 'The Real Thing' It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.

The lead single was "The Real Thing",a major R&B hit in the summer of '81 They followed it up with the disco-styled second single "Dancin Free" 'Winners' is notable because it was the first Brothers Johnson album that they produced themselves.Quincy Jones produced their first four albums but in 1981,they decided to try it themselves. It's a great album,a perfect follow-up to the previous year's 'Light Up The Night'.It's similiar to that album, containing a vibrant mix of funk/R&B and a little disco.

I now have all three GQ albums, which I'm thrilled about.I really like their sound, which was a mixture of synth-based funk/disco and soulful ballads. The first album is great."Disco Nights (Rock Freak)" is one of my favorite songs. The second album (pictured above) contains the hit "Standing Ovation",plus other cool jams like "GQ Down" and "Is It Cool".It also contains two superb ballads: "Sitting In The Park" (a remake of the Billy Stewart hit) and the dreamy "Don't Stop This Feeling",a Quiet Storm favorite that deserved to be a single. If you ever come across any of the three GQ albums, grab them!

I'm not familiar with track names & such but the song where Diana is modeling the colorful rainbow dress she had her auntie make whatever that song she was dancing to is on there... LOVES IT!!! I think you're referring to the uptempo song "She's The Ideal Girl",performed by Jermaine Jackson.I like that song too I've always been interested in GQ

Not so long ago,I did a thread on their 1977 hit "Whatcha Gonna Do" http://prince.org/msg/8/275114 Their 1978 hit "Love Will Find A Way" is NOT the Lionel Richie song, lol. It's an uptempo,R&B-flavored rock/pop track.Depending on how old you are,you might remember hearing it as a kid.It was a major hit back then.

Yeah, that's Jermaine Jackson on the 'Mahogany' soundtrack He's the one singing lead on the song you're referring to ("She's The Ideal Girl").He also has an instrumental track called "Eruca" which became an underground dance/club favorite.Interestingly,he wrote and produced both of these songs,at a time when his brothers were complaining that Motown wouldn't give them creative control.
