Bill Evans - "From Left to Right"

From Left to Right (1970)

I just pulled this one out of my boyfriend's collection. If I'm liking this, what else might I like from Mr. Evans?

That's craaaaazy that you brought him up today.

This weekend...

...Portrait In Jazz was part of the "mood" music. wink

Some other albums I know that I have...

...Love them all.

New Jazz Conceptions
Waltz For Debby
The Solo Sessions Vol.1
Conversations With Myself

I started writing a post (that I never finished) entitled "The Therapeutic Benefits of Blue In Green".

Another one of those magical musical misfits who thought skag was the way.

There's a whole school of thought based around his chord voicings.
Very interesting story on how he learned to play and the subsequent way he taught students.
If I can remember where I read it i'll get it to you.

doh! Aah yes, Rhapsody. smile

Excellent album! Hard to believe that was his first solo outing. Most people strive to that good at their peak. I liked the little teasing 1:20 version of Waltz for Debby, so I listened to that portion of the live album. Will listen to the rest later. Thanks!

Pretty nice chops huh?

I'm glad you listened to this one.
If you follow his solo albums sequentially, you'll notice how he "calms down" in later albums and incorporates more space in his playing.
