I'll take your word for it, and pass. He was funny to me fifteen years ago, but I haven't liked him in a long while.

Thanks for that link Prettyman but it looks like the clip is not up yet.

They did a Skillet (a bit lackluster IMHO) and Jungle Love medely with Jungle Love being somewhat better but overall I was not that impressed. The performance seemed to lack a certain spark.

I've seen them way better.

But that being said, The Time on a bad day is better than 95% of most other bands on their best days.

Morris looked great in a silver white, textured, baggy silk suit and his hair was awesome. I know there's probably a name for the kind of waves he had goin' on but I dont know what it is. Anybody?

Morris and Jerome did their signature dance move and it was as cool as ever.

Jesse's hair was short (for him) and he shredded his geetar like he sposta but I can't say it was all that memorable here the next morning.

Jellybean was wearing a big hat that didn't do it for me but he had a nice electric blue suit on. The hat looked like a hand me down from the Brit Reggae band, Aswad; looks good with nice long dreads streaming out but on Jellybean it just looked too big.

We never got to see much at all of Jimmy, Terry and Monte. I guess Jay's camera people were somewhat limited in the angles they could get.

I think the ones who really got to enjoy The Time were those who were there for the show which took place at some outdoor pavillion rather than in the TCV studio proper. I'm sure they must have done a longer set than just the number we got to see on the Tee Vee.

I didn't spot tA in the audience anywhere... wink

They will probably have it up later today. It is still early on the west coast.

lol Please.

I was at the Steely Dan concert (more on that later) but I DVR'd their performance and watched it when I got home.

Those "Summer Concert" performances are done on a stage right outside the studio where Jay Leno does his show.
After the last guest spot, the audience is ushered outside for the musical act.

It's a standard 3-camera setup with, at least when I was there for Al Green's performance, a roving hand-held that was right in front of the stage.
I really have a problem with the directors who control how these things are shot.
For example, during Jesse Johnson's solo who is the camera on? Morris Day...WTF? disbelief

i do too, but really it's Time for them to move on! God, can't they write some new tracks or something? they're really tarnishing the magic of the group and the tunes that i love so dearly with exception to The Bird, i never liked that song to begin with.

There was talk of them releasing a new album soon. it would be ridiculous for Prince not to allow them to record new music, but i wouldn't put it past him. though, if they do release something as The Time, he should receive some $$$ of the record sales, that is if any sale. lol

The truth of the matter is do you want new time songs especially if
they are gonna try and sound contemporary with these new artists. If they
ain't gonna keep the funk minneapolis style, i'd rather just see them tour
and perform all of the time, jessie, and jam and lewis production artists
songs. When these older artists make new material, the new material is
rarely supported. There are a few exceptions i.e chaka khan, prince, EWF.
Don't laugh at my funk
This funk is a serious joint

True, i wouldn't want to be anything but Minneapolis Funk. but, you'd think they'd throw something new into the mix. i doubt if they'd ever be sign to a major label again, but if Terry and Jimmy are involved they be able to come up with enough money for studio time and hey the production would be free too, right? it would also be something nice for the fans, only if they remained true to the original sound.
