Iam a huge disney/western animation geek, so I got a few LOL

The songwriting team for the Golden Era of Second Renaissance Disney Films during the early- to mid-'90s did a remarkable job on the lyrics and compositions. I dare say that a lot of the tunes from Little Mermaid through The Lion King rivaled anything by Rodgers & Hammerstein. Beautifully crafted, classic songs. | |

People often assume it was Disney that started the Andrew Lloyd Webber approach to songs in the late 80's-early 90's, but it was this song/film that started it , by an ex disney animator no less. So hard to resist such a pretty song, no matter how corny LOL. | |

I had this on VHS back in 1987?? '88? I think Oliver & Company came out after this film. The Land Before Time. Bravest Little Toaster -- all of that. Now sex, remember "Chipmunk Adventure" the movie? THAT HAD SOME SONGS NOW. Ummm, "Diamond Dolls," "Boys & Girls of Rock and Roll," "A Mother" -- I used to watch that religiously on the Disney Channel. ... [Edited 7/30/08 19:11pm] | |

I was too young to see this movies in the cimema (born in 85), but thanks to older brothers and sisters, I grew up with an american tale, land before time etc... Oddly, "oliver and co" was not released to vhs until the mid 90's. Its a shame as it perfectly captures how contemporary and 80's disney were trying to be. Very much a movie of its time. I love that movie. Chipmunk movie? I dont think I have seen that. I bet its hard to track down now. I remember my sister watching her awful care bear movies. I saw one quite recently on a cartoon channel. Christ those cartoons sure were innocent and colourful. As awful as they were, I found it quite charming in a bizarre way. "felix the cat: the movie" was off its head. That even had songs in it. Its obscure as hell now, but well worth picking up. Seriously crazy movie for a kids film | |

There was something so warm about those '80s animated films you mentioned. It impressed me to see what animators could achieve with just their hands. Not to slight the Pixar generation of animation 'cause people are feeling it (and yes, I'm not a little kid these days so I'm biased) but it's just not warm or organic to me. | |

I love that damn movie! The songs were great, especially "Boys & Girls of Rock and Roll" ("you better believe it, yeah, yeah, yeah!"). To this day, whenever someone mentions Theodore, I think of him as a little butterball. Oh yeah!!! That was MY MOVIE back then. I loved it.
