The Jam They were one of the most succesful & influential Punk/Pop bands to emerge from the U.K. in the late 70's/early 80's. I've only recently gotten into their music, but I think it's excellent. Do we have any fans of this great band out there? I'll understand if none of y'all (except moi) are American. They were like a flash in the pan here in the States, maybe not even that. So, who out there would like to share with me their love for Pauk Weller, Bruce Foxton, & Rick Buckler? NEW WAVE FOREVER: SLAVE TO THE WAVE FROM THE CRADLE TO THE GRAVE.

Friggin love "All Mod Cons". The Jam rocks...I don't remember them ever being big here in the States. I just recently bought the CD after the tape I made when I was in high school broke. A friend of mine was a British music freak back in the 80's and he had this on record. I really liked it and taped it. I don't understand why they never broke here...too bad.

Aw, come on, there's gotta be more Jam fans out there than this. They were the toast of Britain in the late 70's/early 80's, right? Well, U.K. .orgers out there, state your cases about them. NEW WAVE FOREVER: SLAVE TO THE WAVE FROM THE CRADLE TO THE GRAVE.

i always loved the jam. i believe they played atlanta one time and i missed them, a hugh regret. all mod cons is, also, my personal favorite.
i always thought that they didn't hit it big in the states because they "were too british". their lyrics used a lot of british slang, that americans are too lazy to figure out. actually, i sort of admired them for staying true to their roots so to speak, rather than try to obviously appeal to american audiences. also, if you listen to their albums, the cool thing is that you can really watch them grow up. paul wellers lyrics were usually pretty personal and he had a sharp sense of personal insight, and could see this sort of evolution from english punk kid to a thoughtful man. and, as a trio, they really rocked. ------------------------------------------------

It goes without saying that The Jam were a brilliant band. The hits alone are all classics, Town Called Malice, Going Underground, Start!, Eton Rilfes - each a calssic, without considering the equally brilliant albums.
Lets not forget The Style Council either. Paul Weller has consistently brought wonderful material all the way through to Stanley Road Lets also not forget his mention in Neil's magnificent Whole In My Shoe (which was letting in water) -----------------------------------------
