Another funky 80's track-"I'll Be Good" by Rene & Angela I really like this track from 1985. This is one duet that doesn't sound corny. Some of you may remember that Foxy Brown scored her biggest hit by sampling the chorus of "I'll Be Good" along with the beat in her rap duet with Jay-Z in 1997.
NOTE: The video above is just the song playing with a pic of Rene & Angela's album. There is an official video for this song, but whoever posted it at youtube apparently doesn't want it linked anywhere else. If you want to see the official music video, it's here http://youtube.com/watch?...re=related [Edited 7/20/08 17:38pm]

I really like this track from 1985. That was earlier than 1985. It was either 1981 or 1982 at the latest. Their 1985 hit was "Save Your Love (For #1)" featuring Kurtis Blow. "I'll Be Good" was definately a great song. She should have stayed with Rene because they had much stronger stuff than her solo stuff. I hated all her solo work except for "Run To Me". I was just going off of what wikipedia said about the date. I agree that Angela's solo stuff wasn't that great, but that she & Rene were really good togther. DirtyChris said: he was a woman beater

"I'll Be Good" is a 1985 song. It's the second single from their 1985 album 'Street Called Desire'.The first single was "Save Your Love (For #1)" featuring Kurtis Blow.
In 1981,they were riding high with the hit "I Love You More",a funky midtempo jam.

The way Renee told it back in the 80's on radioscope was that he and angela got into an argument in the studio during a recording session for the isley brothers(ronald and rudolph after O'kelly died)and the other 3 brothers formed isley jasper isley and ronald isley intervened. That was basically how renee and angela fell out and Ronald and Angela's bond grew tighter professionally and personally. In fact the song ronald and angela recorded hello beloved was originally done by renee and angela and they went to court over it. Angela lied and said that she never recorded it with Renee and Renee played their version on the radio and angela was busted. ![]() There was definitely some drama with Renee and Angela and later Ronald and Angela. Don't laugh at my funk

I remember loving I'll Be in the late 90's and thinking it sounded like Thriller back then, then later on I wondered what song it sampled, I guess I just found my answer and I love it!

It's in my i-pod. It just reminds me sooo much of listening to 98.7 KISS FM back in the mid-80's in New York. I loved this song to death and still do.

Bruce Swedien(their albums recording engineer) might have disagreed with you on that note(the physical abuse). Supposedly, Angela tried to tell Rene HOW to play some notes or something of that sort during one of their recordings of Street Called Desire and he ended up Ike Turnering her all over the studio. You could sense from the album's mood that there were some drama going on in the background. I don't think Angela spoke a word of the abuse but its a legen among the industry peers. Stephanie Mills(her friend) talked about her own situation of physical abuse and said thats among the reasons why she and ANGELA have so many things in common(in some radio interview). She def picked some deadbeats as husbands, Ron Isley picked up on what Rene left. And the lawsuit was about I Learned To Respect The Power Of Love which Angela took the full credit for when both artists(Rene & Angie) wrote it. What an exceptional talent though, Rene Moore was a talented musician too but he was such a Mic Murphy copycat, at least Angela was a unique talent and IMO she's the one who made the "Rene & Angela" team intersting and attractive.
