Entered the charts late 1970 and peaked at #4 (R&B) and #2 (Hot 100). One of their best ballads.

I was only 8 when this song came out, but even back then it was one of the saddest songs I'd ever heard bawl

i loved the 5th Dimension too! i remember this song actually "debuted" on an old TV show called "It Takes A Thief" starring Robert Wagner. They added 3 notes to the ending of the song and the 3rd note was intended to activate a bomb. i'm sure I just dated myself with this but so what. biggrin
