Huge fan of both men. At times, Bowie more than Prince, butboth men are innovators.

Bowie has so many greatest hits compilations that some of them leave off the real gems. Best of Bowie lacked the best songs from Station to Station (Stay, S2S,Word on a Wing). HIs real value is in some of the live appearances from the talk show circuit back in the day (Dinah, Dick Cavett)

I wish Prince would release a new hits compilation. At this point and time, he needs to capture the music of the past 15 years (12 since WB) in a nice and neat package. He has music that would appeal to the fans and fams alike.

Somehow I could never get into his music, but I used to feel the same way about Prince when I was young, so maybe Bowie will be my next discovery.

But I do like him as a person, even though I saw only one of his interviews.

I still couldn't tell you the name of all Bowie's albums or what order they were released.. I have lots of famming to do.

Seriously, Bowie's my all-time fave, I guess. Or at least on par with Prince. Considering interviews and such, he's miles ahead. Lyrics, too. Mostly much more interesting, IMO. I think he's really funny and interesting. Youtube is full of interesting things Bowie. I do not know his 80s stuff though, except for Let's Dance and of course Absolute Beginners which is one of his all-time best songs, and I don't plan on getting to know it.

Just like Prince, sometimes Bowie turns a rather crappy studio song into something amazing live....

Bowie's Low is to me on the same level as Prince's Sign The Times.

low and come are both very solitary, very lonely and dark sounding albums to me. i guess i make the comparison within the context of each performer, not really trying to say one sounds like the other. just how both albums feel and where the mood came from in terms of where they both were at the time they created them. they were both trapped in a world of excess and celebrity and it was getting the best of them, and both were looking desperately for a new direction. that's my reading, anyway.

SOTT is a great album, but it's also as joyous and as much of a party as it is dark and reflective. i don't know what bowie album i would or could compare it to.

I respect him as an artist and generally like his stuff, but as with other bastardized music, I just can't take him seriously enough to really get into him. I'd rather have the real thing.

I bought the Platinum collection about a week ago, I didn't have time to sit down and listen to it... The only reason I bought it is the fact he's too damn interesting to ignore

The only songs I "truly" experienced (as in multiple listens or just sitting down and have a good hard listen) are "Rebel Rebel" and "Ziggy Stardust"... both works of genius IMO.
