Bar Kays - Nightcruising I don't have many of the Bar-Kay's projects, but am interested in getting this one. Is it any good. I like Hit and Run and Freaky Behavior, but am not familiar with the album. VainAndy, describe it for me. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

Me too, that's why I posted the thread. I'm not a BIG Bar-Kay's fan, but I do like some of their stuff. I don't think I have anything other than greatest hits packages from them. The way some of the people around here describe them, their albums are excellent. So, I wanted their opinions. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

I know. If The Bar-Kays got the kind of support then that they are getting on The Org now they would have given The Beatles a run for their money! But seriously, I'm not surprised, considering this is a funk-orient wall (and to a lesser degree, Web site). Oh, yeah: "Nightcruising" is worth getting if you like The Bar-Kays. In addition to "Hit and Run" and "Freaky Behavior," the title track, "Unforgettable Dream" and especially "Traffic Jammer" are standouts. [Edited 7/3/08 15:44pm]

Yeah, I feel ya. I have been ordering more stuff online. There aren't many record/cd stores left in my area. Especially stores that carry hard to find stuff. Man, I miss Tower Records. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

A lot of barkays fans may argue that this is their best album except funkenstein who likes their 70's catalogue better. I have a top 4 in no particular order: Flying high on your love Nightcruising Propositions Dangerous Don't laugh at my funk

It's my favorite Barkays album. It contains "Traffic Jammer" which is my favorite Barkays song, and if that jam don't make your ass shake, then you're as dead as these shit hoppers these days. "Freaky Behaviour" is The Barkays stealing from Rick James' "Super Freak" (they loved to steal from folks ). The extended version of "Hit And Run" is on there which has a great breakdown towards the end. The title track is great. "Backseat Driver" and "Touch Tone" and pretty good too. Then there are two slow jams. "Feels Like I'm Falling In Love" is one of my favorite slow jams of all time. "Unforgettable Dream" is another good one too. It reminds me of their previous slow jam "Today Is The Day". Andy is a four letter word.

I can remember when it was just me and Funkpill starting Barkays threads every now and then. David Eye would always respond because he liked the group also. Finess would come in sometimes too if he was online (he would disappear from the org for long stretches of time though). Other than that, the thread would fall to the next page. Then Funkenstein came along and started popping in. There's another guy from the last year or so (I can't think of his name) and Barkays threads are all he starts. He started so many, sosgemini threatened to treat The Barkays threads like Michael Jackson threads. Andy is a four letter word.

He takes being a barkays fan to another level. I ain't mad at him though. Don't laugh at my funk

I came across this album on my weekend vinyl dig,but the record itself wasn't in the best shape I could see a few scratches on the vinyl.I never buy a record if I can see the scratches I also came across the 'Propositions' album but again,it wasn't in mint condition so I didn't buy it.

I just downloaded a "copy" of this album from another site and it is good. I HAVE to get it on cd. It was not what I was expecting (since I don't consider myself a fan of theirs....but I do like them). **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-
