Oh no, you can have that one (Ray Parker Jr's 'After Dark' album) I've got Ray's solo album "Woman Out Of Control" which is pretty good and the 45's "The Other Woman", "Let Me Go" and "Bad Boy". I'm thinking about getting "The Other Woman" album the next time I see it or maybe the album after that which contained "Bad Boy" and "The People Next Door". I can't mess no late 80s though....horrible, horrible times. lol What I really want is the 12 Inch version of the song "The Other Woman". Do you remember that one? Now that one is rare.

'The Other Woman' is an easy one to find.I saw a few copies of it on my vinyl dig.I'll eventually get it but I'm in no hurry wink "Bad Boy" and "The People Next Door" appear on his 'Greatest Hits' album released in 1983.I have it on vinyl.I know you don't like alot of late-80s music, but 'After Dark' is a great album....it was a welcome return to form after his awful 1985 release 'Sex and The Single Man'.It's very soulful, without all the commercial "pop" music of the previous album. The first single "I Don't Think That Man Should Sleep Alone" is a sultry, soulful gem that's reminiscent of Marvin Gaye."You Shoulda Kept A Spare" is a cleverly written midtempo track and "Perfect Lovers" is a Quiet Storm gem.Don't worry,Ray still gets funky too.Uptempo jams like "Lovin You","You Make My Nature Dance" and the naughty title track are excellent.I really think this is his best solo album (post-Raydio).

Check out "The Book Of Love"(on Andre's album).....

Once a friend came to me and asked me if I knew the way
He said his woman stepped out and he really thinks he's turning gay
So I took him by the hand and I looked him right in the eyes
I said falling in love with a man ain't no surprise

Those lyrics are right up my alley. lol

hmmm so what's Andre trying to imply? Great song nonetheless lol What's your opinion of the other tracks? I dig everything on Side One.The second side is less exciting but I do like "Satisfaction".

That's the album I'm looking for also (the first Raydio album)

I've listened to it once and it's not bad.The albums that followed are better,of course, but there's some cool jams on the debut."Jack and Jill" is the highlight.

thumbs up!

She has a smooth R&B ditty in the album called "Ready 4 Love", it sounds like a typical Luther Vandross production, I like it.

I thought this albumn showed a jazzier side of Him too, even the cover was showing him going in another direction. I love your daughter--isn't that on this lp?

yes it is. I copped mine years ago, and it has an extended and an instrumental. The episode of Soul Train with him singing other woman just aired about three weeks ago. good luck on getting that one.

Wow, those albums you got have me interested in trying to find them myself. If only I was a born a few years earlier, 1979 baby right here!
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Oh.....how I wonder what he means. Things to make you go hmmmmm. evillol

Looks like we like the same things on the album. "Satisfaction" is my favorite song from Side 2 and my favorite song from the album, next to "The Dance Electric". "Neon Pussycat" and "Vacation" are pretty good but Side 1 is definately the best side.

As for "Lipstick Lover", I prefer the 45 version I have over the album version. The 45 is an edited version of the 12 Inch version. Oh, how I wish I had bought the 12 Inch back then but, by that time, I had already graduated from high school in 1985 and had to buy my records with my own money (my grandmother had bought them for me previously). I think I remember hearing a 12 Inch version of "Satisfaction" on the radio that same year also. Hell, I can't remember. I may be getting it mixed up with the 12 Inch version of Jesse Johnson's "Baby Let's Kiss" the very next year which was another one I neglected to get. Times had gotten hard for a whore that had already graduated but was unemployed at the time. lol So you can imagine how pissed I was getting with Prince's albums beginning in 1985 after saving my own money expecting some hard stuff like "1999", "Dirty Mind", or "Controversy" (the signature Prince sound), only to receive some artsy/fartsy "experimental" shit with horns and orchestras. lol

I got a heads up on about 200-300 brand new R&B/Soul albums. Once I get the list, let me know if u want something. I can buy the whole lot or pick and choose. I was told that it is a GREAT collection but I have not seen the list yet.

They used to play that 12 Inch version of "The Other Woman" all the time. I even looked for it in the record stores back when it was in style and couldn't find it. The radio used to play the instrumental sometimes too right before the news would come on. I haven't heard that 12 Inch since it was in style.

Yeah you can't go wrong with these two. Candy is one of my favorites. It was
the second lp i ever bought. Commodores hot on the tracks was my first.
Candy is good from start to finish. The intro fire when ready that leads into
chase me. I always liked the ballad Not ready. DaLady, the title track and let me put love on your mind is my favorite confunkshun ballad of all time. Michael Cooper's guitar solo on that is awesome.

Yeah, this album contains "I Love Your Daughter",another song that I really like. What I really like about this album is,it finds Ray getting soulful again.Remmber in the mid-80s when he putting out all those crappy pop singles like "Ghostbusters" and "Girls Are More Fun"? There's none of that silliness on this album.'After Dark' is a very mature, soulful, intropective record. But he hasn't lost his sense of humor. Some of the lyrics and ad libs are funny. There's also a really good jazzy instrumental here,on Side Two.

Yeah,"Satisfaction" was the third single from Andre's album.A 12" version was released.I think his record company made a huge mistake by not releasing the superb slow jam "Pretty Wild Girl".That's my second favorite song on the album (after "Dance Electric").It's an intoxicating slow jam that got some airplay on our local R&B station.Superb song!! Probably the most Prince-like thing he's ever done. The ladies would have gone crazy if that had been a single, with a cool video.
