I noticed some Bootsy and/or Mob influence on their earlier stuff as well,....right down to the bad cover of'I'd Rather Be with You' from the same LP...and that damn slooooow ass tom beat mad .

I remember in the late 80s,James Mtume made it clear that he was no fan of rap music lol He made some scathing comments about hip-hop which prompted one rap group (can't recall their name) to release a song called "Talkin All That Jazz".It was directed at James and even includes a brief sample of the "Juicy Fruit" beat.
