Don't know whatever happened to that. With Prince, there's always "talk of" I've seen what his game is over the years. He makes empty promises. He did that with his band members and practically everyone he's dealt with. He hypes people up and gases their heads and makes them think he's gonna make good on something "if they do something for him first" then he "changes his mind" at the last minute after they've already done what he wanted them to. Which ones does he make good on? Carmen Electra, Kim Basinger, etc. The best promise he made good on was to Morris that ended up being the Time. Dude is not known for much more than "talk of". Van already has a fan base. Co-signing him would only make it bigger. Sometimes its just the right thing to do. But, as was already said: I love that quote! [Edited 7/18/08 11:59am]

So what exactly would PRINCE do? produce him, give his blessing to him so people will buy his record? Do we really think a PRINCE stamp of approval is worth anything?? has it ever been?? Van Hunt like anyone else has to make this happen himself or just stay label-less and do it on his own. The thing is when Van's first record came out, EMI did do alot for him, and were doing ALOT before that record came out. The advance was out about 3-4 months before the record and was given to stores to play at least once a day. ME i was pushing this record to tons of people, people i knew would dig him, same way i did this when Norah Jones came out in 2002, it was all word of mouth. But what i was hearing from REPS at Emi who were going around to stores talking VAN HUNT, was that they were doing all this work and they were constantly TRYING to get him to help, to play shows, to do interviews and it was like pulling teeth at times. It almost seemed like he had his EGO in place already and wasnt at least doing the things that could get him heard more or seen more, he already wanted to change things to his way or no way. And it wasnt like the label was trying to get him to a duet with Timblaland or some shit like that, the record was already out, they wanted him to play shows, clubs, little holes in the wall, whatever it would take, they wanted him to do an interviews with HIP NYC magazines, they wanted him to work the club circuit that Norah did for 2-3 years before getting signed, but they couldnt get him to do much. So it is what it is, and PRINCE would have ZERO patience as we know, a good example, where is the DAWN movie that Prince was working on? "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F
