Have Janet and Def Jam Reconciled?

http://www.thatgrapejuice...ciled.html

There is mounting speculation that Janet Jackson and label Island Def Jam have put aside their much publicized differences and have opted to continue working together. The news comes as Jackson's previously scrapped new single 'Can't Be Good' was officially sent to Urban Adult Contemporary radio for adds by Def Jam this week. {Source}

A reconciliation? Hopefully. A final parting shot? Maybe. I'm still not entirely sold on 'Can't Be Good' getting the single treatment ahead of cuts from 'Discipline' such as '2Nite', 'The 1' and a more proper release of 'LUV'. If there's no promotion, I really can't see this making much of an impact. Still, I'm hoping Janet and Def Jam have patched things up, the 'Discipline' project really is too good to go so un-supported IMO.

I hope so. She should team up with Ne-Yo and do a duet/remix to CBG since he wrote it.

If janet is having this many problems then she should go independent.

That would be a smart move. Ne-Yo can't get a lot of spins of Closer on urban formats and this would help him out. Of course, we know that Janet needs the help (with spins that is).

How many albums re-enter the BB200 these days once they've dropped off completely?

At this point I don't think even a duet with Jesus Christ featuring Kanye West and a video with Madonna could save 'Discipline.'

It seems like this is the only way to go with seasoned artists. So many people get in the way before even one note is heard, and that "can't be good" (no pun intended.)

Agreed. And why does she feel the need to even deal with the politics of
the major labels. She's janet. Do like tamia and go independent and call
your own shots. She also doesn't have to promote this major mass tour.
Just simplify the tour without all the pyrotechnics and 30 dancers on
stage and make it a more intimate tour for her fans and tell L.A reid to
go screw himself.

her fans still want a janet show, and her ego needs her to still be able to play arenas, but I agree with you on all other points.

Singles shoulda been

1. Feedback (1st digital single/club release, not official pop single)
2. Luv (official first single)
3. RollerCoaster
4. The 1
5. The Greatest X Ever (terrible song, but could've done well at radio)

What about the subliminal effect of a radio director reading

I don't think she has the wherewithall to independent...she doesn't have the business sense or the innovative thinking and neither does her management. they're stuck in 1996 business wise - when she was the biggest selling female, when people bought CD's.

You're forgetting something - she NEEDS all that shit because she mimes most of the show. Are you suggesting she actually go out and SING an ENTIRE concert? eek lol

No. If she she just let him be a boyfriend and stop thinking 'just bcuz they are together that he has to produce her' thoughts out of her head and go back to Jimmy and Terry or whoever the hell she was with, everything would be peachy.....oh and her songs wouldn't suck.

I LOVE YOU JANET!!! wave
