I don't think pop stars that start out as actors can ever successfully transition back into full time, successful actors (read JLo). She may have a hit movie here or there (like Cher), but overall her personality as a pop figure with six pack abs, the proponent of Nipplegate, and MJ's sister have overcome an audience's ability to look at her as a character onscreen and not "miss jackson if ya nasty." she most likely will have more misses (a la Justin, Madonna) than hits IMO. im sayin - Vegas! [Edited 7/16/08 21:51pm] i think jan could do a citcom- as long as tyler perry stays away from the concept- she could probably head off the next "cosby show" type citcom. if the material is good- people will forget all about the above LOVE HARD.

I'd never say never. I don't think pop stars that start out as actors can ever successfully transition back into full time, successful actors (read JLo). As she gets older, the primary TV and record-buying audience -- 18 to 35, IIRC -- won't even be familiar with Miss Jackson's persona. The kids who were born when Control came out are old enough to go to the clubs and dance to hits from people their own age. There are megatalented stars who maintain their sex appeal and their audience well after middle age. Tina Turner is an example. But Tina can go on stage with a mic and a band and put on one hell of a show. Janet can't do that. Her skill sets are limited. She can't even sell records now, when before, a Janet release was an event. And being MJ's sister isn't exactly a plus these days. she most likely will have more misses (a la Justin, Madonna) than hits IMO.
Many more misses. She's trending down. im sayin - Vegas!
All that being said, that ain't such a bad idea! She can put on her type of show, make a lot of money, and still be considered a star without selling a single record. Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016

Honestly these days a vegas show isn't anything to scoff at - Celine, Toni, Bette, Elton, Cher, etc - they all can go on to do hot tours again afterward...and make a shitload of cash. She should do it before she's 50 at least. I'll leave it alone babe...just be me

janet needs to shake things up. she needs a change of direction. she doesn't have to change genres or styles but she needs to get edgy and interesting. nobody cares where her next orgasm is coming from or how she's achieving it.
Sadly, many of today's artists are afraid to branch out, take chances and venture out of their comfort zones.Especially in the R&B world, where most artists work with the same two of three producers. There's no way that Janet can make interesting, edgy music working with the likes of Ne-Yo. she would have to change her camp, since her connection with jd he really has steered her towards the boring trendy r&b/hiphop style of music, and thats not what made her successful. janet was better when she worked exclusively with jam/lewis,her past albums were way more diverse then anything she's done since getting with jd and the current crop of hitmakers.

Not so much because she's funny, but she could be the straight person/celebrity that's at the center of the show surrounded by good comedic actors. I didn't think Lisa Bonet was that funny, but she was fine as the center of A Different World. My Legacy

Vegas would be a good idea for Janet, but she'd better hurry before her brother Michael beats her to the punch If he gets one of those long-term,lucrative Vegas deals (as it has been rumored),then Janet will be seen as a copycat if she does the same, lol.
