Bootsy in Stockholm

The place Berns was packed yesterday.
Surely many of us had nostalgic memorys of
the superfunky, legendary & sweaty club gig at "Gino".
A legendary venue in Stockholm that was forced to close down
and now is a unfunky businessoffice.
"Surely some funk must have stuck in those walls"
,I think everytime I pass the place today.
That cold night in 1995 belonged to Bootsy Collins and his Rubber Band.

For those who hoped for a reprise yesterday, they might have been
slightly dissapointed cuz this tour Bootsy is out on now is not about
his Rubber Band. It's about the man who started his carrer when he was
17 years old...JAMES BROWN.

So,this is a tributeshow as well as showcasing his artists on his
Bootzilla lable.So...
An hour or so goes to his openingacts while many in the crowd
starts calling out for Bootsy.

It was quite nice tho to see the legend Vicky Anderson tho I cannot
understand while she's got them funky tunes she did with James back
then, she rather do covers of Mavis Staples and Aretha Frankling.
Not that it's not good but I'd rather see her do stuff like "Super good"
and "Don't throw your love in the garbage can".

When Bootsy FINALLY hits the stage it's magic.
Just his persona and funkyness shine up the whole room even tho he's not
fronting. He's just standing in the back of the stage playing bass.
Just like with James Brown.

The James Brown inpersonator Tony Wilson does a good job altho
I often think about Eddie Murphy doing James Brown in SNL biggrin
It's VERY cool to see and hear Bootsy, next to his brother
Catfish and drummer John "Jabo" Starks laying down the
basslines to songs like "Superbad""Give it up or turnit a loose"
"Talking loud and saying nothing""Brother rapp""I don't want nobody to give me nothing" etc etc.

The groove is DEEP and finally at the end Bootsy take the mic
and gets down with the people on the dancefloor.

I just wish the show would have been more of Bootsy.
I also hope he puts his soloact together again and funkattack the world.

One thing's for sertain.Bootsy Collins is just the funkiest and baadass
dude on bass headbang GET DOWN BOOTSY!!!

It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.

I did'nt clock the show so I really don't know. biggrin
The opening acts felt longer, but that was because everyone
just wanted to see Bootsy.
I think maybe the openingacts was 1 hour and Bootsy 1 hour or so.
